No worries Davo, I think I overreacted in my response also.
I was surprised that young Elliott had the better of a much more experienced Lobb last week. I don't think Darcy has been playing as well as last year but I also understand his importance to us. He really needs to do more around the ground. We mocked NicNot for output very similar to Darcy. It's great the hit outs he gets although I'd like to know how many are to advantage. We really need him to take the next step , taking more marks and getting more possessions.
Whether he is not fit, is still learning, doesn't read the play or position himself well, I don't know.
I understand why Lobb wants to be a forward, because he really is not a first choice ruckman. He does get more possessions than Darcy but his ruckwork isn't as good. I also realise that it's unlikely we would play McCarthy, Tabener, Hogan and Lobb in the forward line together.
If one was dropped, I guess it would be McCarthy. Could he play on the wing and have a run on the ball? He's the same size as Mundy and seems to have a good tank.
Whether Darcy comes in this week depends on whether he's done enough to satisfy the coaches while playing for Peel. His stats don't suggest he has but maybe they think Lobb needs support. Wouldn't surprise me either way.
Still wish we had a more mobile and skilled option than Meek or Jones as back up while Darcy is trying to regain his form and increase his output.
