The wins:
Our only solid win this year cane against the Roos, who currently sit solidly on the bottom of the ladder (however, it was less convincing than our pummeling of Carlton last year).
The Giants was a good win. Good team at their fortress. Can’t fault that one.
The Dogs are middle of the comp at best, currently sitting in 12th on the ladder.
The saints currently sit 7th, but looking at their percentage you can’t imagine them staying there - will be back down the bottom by season’s end.
The losses:
Slime currently sitting in 9th with a shocking percentage and could slip to 11th by the end of this round.
The Suns are 14th and it’s hard to see them climbing into the single digits.
Today we take on Adelaide, another middle-of the road team that would be lucky to make the finals, and we’re at long odds to get on top of them.
All of that says to me that even if we win today, there’s every chance we’re still a top-of-the-bottom-six/bottom-of-the-middle-six team. BUT, with the competition as tight as it is we could also possibly make the eight, and maybe even win a game when we get there. It’s far too early to tell.
It’s a juicy start to the year, and the draw looks pretty good for us in general, so who knows.
As the boss says: it’s never as good... and it’s never as bad...
