Wow 5 goals as a crumbing forward and still not worth a view from either coach.

Mind you, if Matera had stopped 5 goals, Roly would has awarded him the maximum

Evidence-based (votes) judgement: Coaches are as mad as cut snakes.

Matera kicked some great goals and that is hard to fathom.

Presumably Hunter got a 20% vote uplift for coming back on after being crunched by Ethan Hughes.

Fyfe very unlucky.

Walters was a better player than Matera on the day, so were quite a few others.

Agree that's a strange set of votes. I thought Tim English was a thorn in our side all night, so okay with him sneaking a vote. Caleb Daniel, a no from me. Matera should have got votes. The small forward is a difficult role and he played his role to perfection. Created opportunities by putting himself in the right spots and capitalised on those opportunities. It's not his role to rack up 30 possessions, but to kick 5 goals - he had a great night. I also thought Michael Walters was good and could have got votes. Also thought Joel hamling could have got more than just two votes.

pffft brayshaw passed off nearly as many goals as Matera kicked. And if you watch the replays often enough he doubled that. Good to see Wilson pick up votes.
Funny isn't it that its the guy on the end of the line that looks special when in reality it takes many acts of bravery with often skilled handballs and kicks to get it to him. And so often the scrap the tap on or block that created the turnover and began the move forward or contributed anywhere along the chain is missed. Every act is as important as the next to keep it going.

I am pretty sure you add up goals and not handballs and acts of bravery at the end of the match to see who wins. Matera deserved votes for 5 goals.

We had a much better spread of good players than them.
Daniel's ball skills were elite. He continually set up play, was willing to go through the corridor and hardly missed a target.

Agree Corp. Daniel is such an excellent kick. Although for me the funniest moment of the match was watching him chase Matera. It really did look like a dwarf comedy clown act from a circus (if that wasn't such a politically incorrect thing to say).

Agreed Larkin, and if you listen to Matera after the siren he said as much himself.
Still a very good game by a small forward just others played more complete games.

100 % correct Larkin but it's not as if Matera has been on the end of cheap ones out the back. He's exhibited a fair few of those attributes you mentioned in scoring his goals. He made some pressures kicks and scored from half chances.

On first glance I thought Matera was a bit stiff not to get a single vote, but I can't say for sure he was better than any of the blokes named.

If the coaches had 15 votes to distribute as they wished Matera would have surely have been given a vote, but based on the 5-4-3-2-1 system I wouldn't have had him in my top 5 on the park.
