So if you are tackled and haven't had prior opportunity, you can do a 2 handed throw to a teammate? What if its not a very strong tackle, as long as there is some guy touching you, you are free to throw the ball?

Performing a two handed throw is not making a genuine attempt to dispose of the ball. That is why the Stephenson one is the correct call. It's not in dispute that he didn't kick it properly but the point is he didn't have prior and tried to kick it properly.

No. That would be a throw. It’s a different rule. If you’re tackled before you have an opportunity to dispose of the ball, you should not be penalised for not disposing of the ball or for the ball getting knocked out. Both are beyond your control. Getting the ball first should be rewarded, not penalised.

I reckon too much tolerance is given to prior opportunity. It should look like if you could have disposed of the ball then prior opportunity existed whether you like that option or not. I watched, I think Liberetore take possesion then choose to be wrapped up rather than dispose of the footy without penalty.
The other factor that I think has led to greater leniency on prior has been the increased acceptance of players impeding, holding or laying a tackle before the other player has genuinely taken possession of the footy.
I think I have posted previously that this is the most poorly adjudicated rule in every game I watch. I have given up trying to predict which decision will be made.

If you are tackled without prior and the ball drops out cause you don't make an effort when you can make an effort, that's ball. If it's knocked free in the tackle that's play on.

Trying to break, or run through, or out of a tackle, or keep the movement of the ball happening has always been deemed (or should be deemed) prior opportunity.

If not, Fyfe should only be called for holding the ball one in every 50 contests.
