Mike, the City View Cafe is one place I was keen to get to last year but I didn't make it. I'll give it a go this year, but I reckon it's best suited to one of those rainy Sunday arvo games mid-season. It's still too nice having beers in the sun at the moment to sit inside before the game.
I've been hitting the usual haunts this season, but please let me know if there is anywhere else I should try. I'm going to try the Three B's in Burswood at some point, and I know a few people have landed on The Globe on Wellington street, so I might give that a bash.
The best model for punters at the new stadium would have been to just provide access for food trucks. Those things are everywhere, and it would have meant really good options, variety from week-to-week, and competition. I'm sure there is a compelling commercial or engineering reason why it couldn't work, but when Governments or stadium operators say 'fans first', what they really mean is 'they'll do the best they can by fans within the acceptable commercial parameters of running a stadium'. Fans are a captive audience, and will pay a lot to eat the least bad thing.
Find a good pub or restaurant close by, be nice to the staff, and give your money to someone who appreciates your business.
