If Lobb got injured, who would you rather have?

Actually, bring Darcy in to ruck against English this week. That would shut up most of you.

The bloke carried the ruck as a 19 yr old!! And we'd toss him out???!!

Streuth!!

Imagine the blokes he'll be pushing out of the road when hes 24-25, and beyond??

Why would we want him doing that against our 2020+ ruckman.?

No!

Dumb move, and I'm over us making dumb moves.

The bloke has Purple Blood pumping through his veins.

Get him fit enough to be present, then keep all the sports scientists away from him, and he'll be right.

Chuck him a pie & coke at half time....

Can not believe this discussion? If you want Tim English, and I do, then find someone else to trade. Sean Darcy is a future absolute champion of our club if we keep him. He has "football smarts", a definitive lack in a lot of ruck man PLUS he can kick, mark and handball.
Can no one remember, regardless of 6-6-6, when we didn't have a presence in the square how our mid field had to work so much harder. This guy is a MUST

When a player is still bulking up like English they will always find it hard to win the hit outs, what I'm saying is, when you look at Grundy and Gawn's hit out averages in their third year they stack up with Englishes .

Gawn third year average hit outs = 14.8 ,4th year = 37.3 , 5th year and beyond = 42.2 and became the best ruck.
Grundy's third year average hit outs = 24.3 , 4th year = 26.1 , 5th year and beyond = 35.7 second best ruck.

English third year average hit outs so far = 16.6 , he had his best game last week , 28 hit outs against Kreuzer, 5 marks and 7 tackles , he was the bulldogs best player. His next year will be up in the thirties plus, in two years time he will be one of the best rucks in the league.

I know Darcy has been excellent from the start but that's because he came with the bulk to compete from the start , he had already grown muscle around his frame.

just to be fair,
Darcy third year average hit outs so far = 32 about the same as his first years 34 and second year 29.1 , I think with Darcy, what you see now is what you'll get in the future but English is on the same path as Grundy and Gawn.

Make the trade now and reap the benefits in the next two years.

While I can see the validity in the argument, it seems a mute point right now given whoever we have (Hodor or Tim) would just be playing at peel unless Lobb, Hogan or Tabs are injured.

For mine it is a massive waste to have Hodor racking up 50 hitouts a game in the 2s because we refuse to play 3 genuine talls in the forward line, even with McCarthy out last week they elected to bring in Cox rather than play Hodor & Lobb in the same team.

I also wonder how Lobb feels about selecting Freo as his club of choice because they said they'd play him forward when for the last 3 weeks (and seemingly forevermore) he has played as our starting ruck,

We need to keep Hodor because he’s got great physical presence, has a footy brain and wins contested balls at clearances. My only lingering concern is that he doesn’t get off the ground much and rarely takes a contested mark. Not unlike Sandi. I’m not sure why we pick ruckmen who can’t mark overhead.

I am unsure why we keep following what other sides are doing, 5 years behind them. The real winners in footy are the teams that innovate, and using Darcy instead of the skinny ruckrovers as ruckmen will be bypassing a passing phase that we won't catch.

No problem for mine with his ruck work but he needs to do more around the ground. Gets very few possessions or marks. Hopefully this will come.

Keep Hodor, I think Meek and Jones may not make it at the AFL level based on what I’ve seen so far. I agree we need ruck depth and a variety of different style ruckmen but think we will need to develop them. I don’t want to give away high draft picks for a ruckmen. Funnily enough after going for midfielders for the last decade and then the last two years focusing on talls we gave all our back up midfielders away and now need to focus on the midfield again. If any team is after small midfielders we have them in spades to trade.

After tonights game I can see why we might be interested in English. There were two things I wanted to fix tonight. One was clearances and the other was English taking uncontested marks in the forward line. Whatever he was doing, it was working.

Lobb had enough chances to rack up the marks but couldn't clunk 'em
