Do you think he's a piker? Seems like the medicos did - so why didn't he get back out there? Damn, that's stupid.

It needs to be said, these are the same crew managing soft tissue rehab programs.

Bloody hypen. I've been banging on about this for years.

The AFL is so full of cheating bastards that the AFL couldn't get an agreement from the coaches not to use the stretcher as a stalling tactic. So player welfare is compromised because football teams can't be trusted to not abuse it.

The stretcher was shaped like a 1, not a 7, so he said to the medico’s “I’m walking off”

He was only clinical unconscious so just needed some arms around him until his brain stopped rattling.

I felt physically ill when this happened. It was right in front of us.
It was clear Fyfe was in serious trouble and would be taking no further part in the game..
The fact no stretcher came out is a major letdown to Nat and an embarrassment to the medical staff, club & AFL.
Where was the Dr that was so good for Brayshaw? He was helped off by the physio FFS!
Who thought it was a good idea to walk him off? He was as wobbly as Ive ever seen a player without a stretcher.
Hopefully its not the same bloke that does the test to see if he plays this week?
Sorry Nat, Take your time to have a week (or two) off and let the young fellas attack the Weags.

What is the problem? Nat got off the ground ok, he had good support.
There is no need for a stretcher unless there is a cripling injury or possibility of neck injury. This was not the case.
Too many politically correct nanny state prople calling for the stretcher.

"There is no need for a stretcher unless there is a cripling injury or possibility of neck injury. This was not the case."
It could definitely have been the case, with head to head contact and head contact with the ground. The physio and trainers were not in a position to judge.

The problem is that there is a non-health factor in the decision making process.

In normal circumstances, I think most doctors would err on the side of caution when there was a head or neck injury. Even if they were confident the person was fine. They'd at least wait a bit and see how they pulled up.

But they're being asked to make an immediate diagnosis because there is a penalty for them making a mistake. It would be much safer if there was no penalty for making a mistake and the only consideration was health based.
