Good interview and first time I’ve heard Gerard’s view on why we didn’t draft Andrew McLeod.
I also loved how a current AFL coach mentioned to Cometti that the new rules will see the biggest change to footy since Gerard Neesham.

Great article.

Neesham never got the the plaudits he deserved as a coach but he was an exceptional thinker with a fantastic understanding of the game.

I love the work he is doing at Clontarf as well

Absolutely brilliant read, just like the man. I have always been a fan of his even though I am a Perth fan, always thought he was special.
One of the first things Fremantle ever did wrong was sack Neesham in my opinion. They just did not give him a real chance. Four years is not enough to set up a club the way he was trying to do it.

His work with Clontarf is amazing. The changes he has made to so many young people's lives.

He was a visionary coach and is a man of principles he sticks by his beliefs, we lost out when he was ousted but if he hadn't been Clontarf may not exist and that would be an even greater loss.
