Given St Kilda’s pace we may need to go with lobb and tabs in the ruck. I suspect t duman in for Hughes ( like Hughes but his kicking is not penetrative - just kicks it up the line only) and matera in.

Matera's stats last year were reasonably similar to his stats at GC17, albeit he didn't hit the scoreboard quite as much. Perhaps the thinking is he'll be better with some genuine tall timber around him. It was probably a reasonable trade risk to give up a late third round pick for him - I thought he'd be useful - but if he doesn't perform in the early part of the season I think this might be it for him. Hopefully he knows that too and plays well.

Good luck also to Zac Clarke, who has been named for Essendon.

Jack Stevens is a big out. I think they need to find a spot for Matera but not sure who misses out. He has been underwhelming but I don’t think he is as bad as is made out here. I would play Hughes ahead of Duman. His kicking is a liability but he is a great mark and finds the footy.

Hard one to tip, anything could happen. Stevens being out has me favouring Freo.

Looks good on paper. If they're not motivated after last weeks 'juicy' loss then we may as well go on holiday until the revolution happens.
