That's different to being called a dirty dog.
Footballers don't earn a lot of money because they put on this magical ballet that people can't look away from. They get paid because the public are engaged in the game. We go along, we shout, we cheer, we discuss who did this and that, who's a dog from the opposition, who's a hero from our team and which umpires are terrible... usually all of them.
Obviously there are lines but the spectacle of the AFL isn't good enough to survive without that fan engagement and if you start telling people to shut up and enjoy the show, without bring able to call Nathan Jones a dirty dog, they're all going to have to knock a zero off their pay cheque.
