Let’s not do this again yeti.
As shane said in an earlier post – and I’m paraphrasing - this is a place where people who have views about football come to discuss them. Most of the views posted about the club at the moment are negative, which makes sense because we are objectively bad at football; but not everyone agrees that the worst possible interpretation and prognostication about Freo is justified.
You don’t see me starting threads about how great the club is and how they do everything right, but where I think some of the voluminous criticism of the club is unjustified or needs scrutiny I tend to say so. You might consider it nonsense and that’s your prerogative, but I can assure you that I don’t do it just to be disagreeable. I don’t agree with RM’s very consistent claims that most of our issues can be resolved by getting our forwards to lead to the ball, but I don’t question his sincere belief that it will. I don’t think that your assertion that Lyon is a villain is a put-on, I consider it a genuine belief of yours.
So I don’t understand why you think I post in bad faith.
There is a certain humility in accepting that good people, who care passionately about the same thing as you, can hold different views and that they may even be right sometimes, and so I don’t understand why what I post bothers you so much. If everyone had the same views it wouldn’t be a great place to discuss issues. There have been plenty of people from time-to-time that take a less negative view of the club, but not many of them seem to stick around. I guess I’m a bit stubborn like that. I would think you’d appreciate we have that in common.
On the recurrent injury point, if you were to google ‘AFL injury setback’ on google, you’ll see lots of hits. It’s trite to say that players who have any injury are at risk of re-injuring that same body part, including while they rehab. To have examples of that at Freo isn’t determinative of bad staff or programs unless the rate of those occurrences is out of the ordinary. So I’ll ask you, do we have more recurrent injuries than other AFL clubs? It might feel like we do, but I’ll be honest, I don’t really track recurrent injuries for other AFL clubs because I don’t care about them. I’m assuming most on here are in the same boat.
