I can offer more selective stats too. You would think a bloke who has 7 years in the AFL should be far better than a kid who has played 2 seasons while he was 18 and 19.

Cox has better career average score involvements (4.7 to 3.8), forward 50 tackles (1 to 0.8), disposals (11.4 to 11.2), disposal efficiency (71.4% to 66.8%) and less turnovers (2.3 to 3.5).

When it comes to marking which is Tabs big strength being 3cm taller, Tabs averages marginally more marks (4.6 to 4.5), they average the exact same number of contested marks (1.6) while Cox takes marginally more of his marks inside 50 (1.2 to 1.1).

What that means is there's not much difference between the two statistically except Cox is the younger, better version of Tabs. Let him play and learn how to work with Hogan, Lobb and McCarthy. Lobb is the direct competition for Tabs spot anyway.

Cox is a Rising Star from last year and I'm sure he will get his chance at some stage but he has to wait for it.

I am guessing one of them will be traded for a midfielder at the end of the season. Something that didn't even seem possible until this year.

Who wants to play for Geelong or GWS next year?

Maybe RL will solve the "too many talls" problem by converting Tabs - natural forward - into an intercept marking defender, so that Cox - originally a defender - can play in his best position as a forward. Stranger things have happened.

Yes biz, he is a lefty, which is why I highlighted that he can kick with his right...which I believe is quite a valuable bonus. He has been listed as 198, 199 and even 197. With my expert vision I have him at 199. And, I still reckon he is an important lead up player and contested mark, with Cox usually playing a different type role...not as mobile.

Cox has better stats inside 50 because he's a better and more natural footballer inside 50. Unlike Tabs, Cox has spent plenty of time in defence in his first season before moving forward. When both up forward, they both played the lead up role or positioned down the line for the kick out of defence.

Tabs and Cox spend the same amount of time inside 50 and pushing up the ground last season as can be witnessed by all the times you complain about our forward 50m being empty or Cox racking up midfield like GPS numbers.

You're seeing something that's not there if you think Tabs right foot is good, the number of clangers he has along with his disposal efficiency says he probably isn't great on his left let alone right. As for Tabs height, I'd prefer to go with official stats and stick with 198cm and Cox at 195cm.

One thing that bridges the gap in height and results in Cox being just as good in the air is his leap. Cox was 3rd in the draft combine testing for running vertical leap (92cm) so he has a bit of lift to get to a higher point for the mark. In his third season now and after some growth, I'd hope he has a bit more muscle than when those tests were completed and at 20 years old, he is able to add some more leap to that height.

Biz, I said Tab CAN kick on his right, not that he is good. When I see evidence that a player has actually practiced kicking on the wrong foot, ie a fluent one-handed drop rather than a two handed drop in hope, I appreciate it.
Watching Peake and Johnno for many years simply avoid their wrong side was quite annoying.
I am more than happy for Cox to dominate when he gets a chance, but he is out, Tab is in, and Tab is taking marks and getting the ball to ground in a contest when he doesn't mark it.
