I think it's good that Ross gets called out on that sort of nonsense.

Yep, couldn't agree more. That's how I felt when listening to his post match press conference.

I understand Ross's desire to support his players publicly but he also has a responsibility to the supporters and part of that responsibility is to not treat us like morons by feeding us BS.

I do believe we needed a whole new coaching panel, who worked together, and that this was visible to us all.
But, I am not sure what some of us want to hear from a coach post losing a match. I seemed to understand him, a little convoluted maybe, but taking a small positive out of the game, for public consumption does not fill me with the same anger as a few others.
What do we want him to say? No BS? A public bagging of his team, or himself? Not sure anything would satisfy us all.

Maybe, something like "We got it wrong playing Hogan in the midfield instead of making him the target inside 50." or " Although Taberner played well and took a few marks, he did most of his work between half forward and half back, which meant we had no targets forward of the 50." or even "Walters is in our best 2 midfielders, what was I thinking playing him forward". But no, we got the same tripe we have been fed from day 1. All clichés and glib fob-offs with no substance, no truth and no respect for his players or the club's supporters.

I don't reckon they got much wrong by playing those players from those positions. The structure wasn't that bad. They just didn't execute to the advantage of that structure. Or weren't allowed to but I reckon they took the predictable, boring and easy way rather than the courageous, exciting and less-expected route forward on most occasions.

I blame the idiot who forgot to fork out the $1.2 million to make it a Dockers home game.

We had some bad luck early, and confidence took a hit. Fyfe kicked one into the forward line that was about 10 cm too high and went straight to a defender. And there were a couple of others where pinpoint execution would have seen our tails up and the Suns going defensive.
But that is part of not being a thoroughly match hardened outfit - you abandon the exciting stuff because it doesn't come off. A better team would have persisted.

I'm not concerned with the midfield - when Stephen is back no one will even comment on our midfield. Add in Connor and it will push both Hills and Ed outside (where they belong) and Mikey forward.

So it all falls on Stephen's shoulders and he's never let us down.

A bit of bad luck and then that happened.

I don't agree with you, rogerrocks, that the players are that mentally fragile.

A bit of bad luck, then we go to default plan 1. All behind the ball. That is what happened, not players being mentally fragile, or missing targets. GC missed a shedload more targets than us, but did Dew say "go defensive, stop trying to attack" No he did not, and despite kicking badly enough to lose against any other side in the comp, they still beat Freo.
It is obvious to anyone with an open mind.

Apparently Ross went berserk at the guys after the game saying it was not acceotable for a Fremantle team to play in that manner & called out Fyfe for his mistakes in front of everyone, that’s what I heard

it doesn't seem to matter what the cause is as long as nobody says it's Roly's fault.

It certainly wasn't shaken confidence that pulled all the marking talls out of the forward 50. It wasn't shaken confidence that played Hogan in the midfield after we went to all that trouble to get a marking forward.

If missing 2 or 3 kicks to players can wreck us that badly, then you'd have to question how they are being prepared. Especially considering the greater lack of experience with GCS and how they coped when they missed all those goals.

It certainly wasn't shaken confidence that got us to a 3 goal lead in the 4th quarter only to try to defend that score and fail to do so.

The excuses being peddled by the usual suspects just do not make any sense unless you realise that the only intent is to deflect any criticism from the bloke calling the shots.

But hey, what does it matter? We tried real hard apparently
