Too many players smelling the bouquet. A fair amount of supporters were too - back to reality.

Yeah, we were somewhat brilliant last week.
This week, especially some of our younger players, we were not so ferocious.
You get that with young players. But less than a kick in it when we were so awful against an improved GC, on a long away trip. All is not lost. I am more pleased with what we did produce last week, as an indicator for the future.

I'm assuming from that suker, that you didn't actually watch the game.

Less than a kick in it against an improving GC? They got beaten by St Kilda and they played poorly yesterday. Had they kicked what they should have kicked, we would have been thrashed by 10 goals.

They are not really improving a great deal, which isn't saying much as they were utterly hopeless last season. I don't rate them any chance of playing finals.

I wouldn't get too carried away by the North's result because we may as well have played against witches hats.

Tactically we were poor again yesterday with too many players out of position at crucial times, especially when we kept putting our forwards behind the ball again.

It's called reverting to type. It could also be called failing to learn from past mistakes. Failure is feedback, right? Of course it helps if somebody listens

Yeti, we were awful yesterday. But, I will hope that the north performance is what we aspire to. North may have been shite but we made them worse. We played an attacking high pressure game , the likes I haven't seen for years. So, yep, I hope we can get to that again.
GC aren't world beaters but they certainly played the game out.

The lesson I'm taking out of the first 2 rounds is that GC and St Kilda aren't easybeats.

I predicted this last week, Yeti. Even before the real pressure went on, we went defensive. The best way to stop your opponent scoring, is to kick goals yourself. Of course to do this you need targets up front, so we recruit Hogan, the "Great Purple Hope" and proceed to try to turn him into a midfielder. The forward most likely to succeed as a mid (Walters) is used as our marking target, along with a first or second gamer (Schultz) both players are 6 ft at best.

To many times again, yesterday, players were trying to kick to forwards running away from them because they were not in the 50, in a position to lead at the mids. When does the penny drop? 1 forward inside 20 meters leading will have no space to lead into because 6 other forwards are trying to get inside 50 just as he wants to lead. What Lyon is doing is not working, but he is to arrogant to admit it so he blames players, lack of pressure and dubious skills. Look in the bloody mirror and then do the right thing. (quit)
