Hogan in for Ballas is all that's needed from those ins. I'd enjoy seeing McCarthy and Hogan playing as 'small' half forwards. Good luck matching up on that forwardline, especially if Collins doesn't pull up from his concussion test.

McCarthy is not a tall forward. It will work. Darcy rucks most of the game, and when he goes forward I think Lobb will ruck, not Walters or Banfield so it is still 3 & 3.

Hogan and McCarthy play as smalls despite their height, they have great touch and make good split second decisions while having fantastic endurance and movement. They don't need to play as talls and generally have played as higher up forwards who run around the field when at their best.

Darcy swaps with Lobb and the bench so doesn't really go forward too much. The problem will be making sure they aren't crashing each others marking contests but if we move the ball with the freedom we showed last week, we'll have 1v1 opportunities ahead of play and won't have to worry about it.

I'm sure you guys all understand that the ability not to let teams run the ball out of forward line, inside 50 turnovers and tackle pressure on running backs is very important.

I wasn't actually talking about the number of blokes flying for the pack mark.

I thought the forward line was well balanced on Sunday. I can't believe I'm typing this but I prefer Matera over Hogan as a like-for-like replacement. Matera has also played the ground many more times.

We can't go 2 games in a row without one of Taberner, Lobb, Darcy or McCarthy getting injured, so I'm sure Jesse will get his chance.

I struggle to see, Davo, what Matera can offer that ranks him ahead of Hogan and everyone else on the bench. He has put in a few 5 minute bursts. He is not consistent, takes the easy way out and relies on others to get him into the game. He has never taken control of his position and has never offered any sign that that may happen He could play Burswood a thousand times, and would still not be a preferable option
