The owner of the Camfield came out and said how hard it was to get locals to work for him. Said that backpackers were much happier to do the hard slog. Funny that, I'm pretty sure that pubs around the world find it easier to get backpackers than locals. Same goes for fruit picking.
I'm going to assume that the owner of the Camfield is not stupid and already knows why things are how they are, which makes me wonder why he said it.

It was a bit weird. He complained about the entitlement of young people, then presented reluctance to do a ‘full-on 12 hour glassy shift with no slacking off’ as an example. Why would any 19 year old sign up to that, one day a week, when they can get more steady work elsewhere?

Reflecting on Morgan's reviews of last year, we went to the Dutch Trading Company before the game.
The house burger (at the footy special price of $10) and three large stouts (I think Hawkers from Victoria) are highly recommended.
The bus out the front to the stadium. The bus back after the game and one more stout for the trip home.

I must say, as a former bar worker, I wasn’t impressed with the comments of the Camfield owner and resolved not to go back there. Particularly his comments about youngsters not being prepared to slog it out for 12 hours. I thought we had employment laws to stop this sort of exploitation.
