I really hope his learnt from his past mistakes in not playing the kids and developing for the future. He stuffed that up at both clubs and he had no choice in 2016. I want to see us continuing to blood new players whether we’re top 4 or bottom 4. You can’t just keep playing favorites anymore and you must reward WAFL form.

Yes, does he stick to his old ways and only change players based on injuries, or does he keep giving young players games while strategically resting others?
I'm glad he played Hughes. He always looked to have potential, and now he's starting to look solid at AFL level. I'm hoping that Nyhuis gets a run, and it would be good to see Giro and Crowden getting opportunities. Not to mention some of the untried players. We won't be winning a premiership this year, so its a great opportunity to keep working on depth, because great sides have depth.

Agree...he's got to keep 'moving forward' ...but heres the thing....who didn't perform yesterday?? Can't think of anyone who would deserve being replaced this coming week. Ethan Hughes fumbled a bit, but he also showed he deserves his spot for a few more games yet.

And isn't it beaut to be able to say that - (for once in a long time) - and that means the blokes who aren't in have to 'really perform' to get in...and when in, "take their opportunities.

Great position to be in....!

Did anyone else notice his statement in the post match interview where he said "we are not defined by our results"?

This is what I would expect him to say post season, to the board, where he was trying to justify his job. This is not the statement I would expect to hear from a coach that holds a winning mentality.

You're misinterpreting what he said, or meant, Flag2013
Lee Spurr (I think) explained it by using Brisbane last season as an example.
They won 5 games, which would indicate a poor season, but played with enough intensity and effort to suggest that their season was nowhere near as bad as the results indicated.
We won more games than Brisbane, but I reckon many fans would have preferred a season like Brisbane, than ours.
But, yeah, if it makes you feel better, keep on taking things at face value.

Hmmm...Face swapping technology has come a long way if we're at a stage where we can start to assign values to faces. Tell me more.

But he has the voice of an angel.

No wait, that's Gillian Welch.

Oh forget it.

But that really is Ross's attitude. I remember the first bit of 2015, where we just kept on winning, and Ross wasn't happy with how we were playing, and he said so.

What he meant was

"I do not define us by our results. The rest of the footy world does"

Back in the old days coaches would just quote Confucius... but not RoLy. Oh no, that's too mundane. He's coming at you from deep in some 70s shag pile carpet sometime around 7am on a Monday after a weekend bender of Hunter S Thompson proportions.

He sees things.

The trouble was R.Lyon we drafted not very good players with high picks and he played them in the hope they might come good or they exited the scene without many games. If the drafting had been better you could expect there would still be half a dozen very good experienced players in the team and we would not have done a faceslam for the past three years. These days there aren't many older players he could pick even if he wanted too.
