Some thoughts, Tucker Conca Colyer Schultz even Tabs all played their roles. And it was good to see Darcy out there again. Frodo has a hammy and Fyfe looked sore at the end of the game. Our disposal efficiency is not what it could be. The Roos were rubbish and our pressure made them eat glass. The umpires needed the run. The Chook and chips is way too salty.

What a pleasant surprise to kick 20+ goals. I now ask myself whether the win is about Freo being good or is NM just mediocre?

They just tried hard to win it and move it fast and had targets ahead of the ball. It didn't always work but yielded a great score.

They didn't load their backline rather puts heaps of pressure on through the midfield. That's all Pearce, Hamling and Ryan need, they'll do the rest.

They played winning football and it was a joy to watch.

I thought the work of Pearce, Ryan and Hamling in the opening quarter was what allowed Cam McCarthy to get a few kicks without being under enormous pressure. Which helped him get his confidence up and his game just grew from there.

Reminded me of Shaun Marsh coming in at 4 after the openers had settled in a built a partnership.

Actually, I thought of Michael Barlow in 2010. He was the magic ingredient that made the team gel together after a very flat looking 2009 and, if you're honest, recruiting him was complete luck.

McCarthy wasn't meant to play. He wasn't even good enough for them to bother giving him a run in the pre-season but a bunch of stuff happened, he got a chance, things went right for him and magic happened. He might be the magic ingredient that gets us out of the doldrums.

D. Mundy looks like he has realised today he has the elder statesman hall pass and is able to give a few back handers, ear massages and the perfect push in the back to say get out of my way and the ump says ball up, throw in, play on.
How good was Brown today three goals from three free kicks? Norths free kicks in front of goals could of kept them in the game early.
The team has step up with going in hard today and no sign of old school zoning which made the us easy to read in past years.

I think one of the most significant changes to our structure today was using a more specialist 2nd ruck option.
Lobb more than holds his own and we didnt lose momentum out of the middle like in previous when Tabs pinch hits.
Lobb I believe may well become in our most important 2 or 3 as he is a major threat up front, and we now use Tabs full time where he is best, contested marking linkman between wing and half forward, who then drifts into the arc more in the 2nd half, plus it gives the rebounders more certainty in structure up the ground.
I have been wishing this for oh so long!
One swallow doesnt make a...............but it gives me hope!!
