CA, year after bloody year we recruit players to fill a gap in our armour, then some effing genius thinks "I'm sure no-one has tried Kersen as a backman/Hogan as a big bodied midfielder/Barlow as a half forward goalsneak, and wonder why season after season turns to custard by round 6.

What’s strange is that talking to a few players at the Xmas do, they honestly seemed to believe that they were preparing to play a new game style this year, based on quick ball movement and more attacking focus.

But the two pre-season games have looked exactly like every other game we’ve played for the past 3.5 years.

That the Dockers finished last after conceding a series high 220 points.

We need to get Davey Warner down into the rooms to give our mob a proper pep talk. Dish out to Ballas some freshly issued angry pills

During the press conference Ross still has the blinkers on......
'And we think our signature - the way we are moving the ball - there is certainly less overuse. We are a more direct team and we give ourselves opportunities'

and he still has multiple excuses given we are a no excuse club......
'We lost (Brennan) Cox early to a hamstring, we found that unbalanced us'
'It was always a concern coming here - a six day break off our first hitout in 40 degree heat in Joondalup, I was really concerned. Off a well-rested premiership team building to round one – they were eight days, a strong team – we’re off six… it wasn’t ideal.'
and...'You throw Fyfe in the middle and there is 10 more clearances' Conveniently omitting that if Kennedy played there probably would have been an extra 5 goals to West Coast.

Lastly, a new Rossism, 'I just play whats in front of me and control the controllables'

Some things never change.

Passion won’t cut it in today’s footy. We are, the players are and the sponsors are being led down a path that Roly and Rozbitch have paved. I’m resigned to another year of crap results and crap excuses. Belly needs to sharpen some steak knives earlier than first thought and be prepared to emulate the decisive actions of the Premier League. Cut him now and make it quick and clean!

DOD I took this : Lastly, a new Rossism, 'I just play whats in front of me and control the controllables'

to mean he was either playing Fortnite or Apex on his Xbox controllers in the coaches box?

I heard an interview with Shaun Mc years ago describing Connelly as a snake oil salesmen.

Wonder what he thinks of this clown.

Must be breaking his heart after all the hard work he, fletcher and the Carr boys put in giving the club some credibility.

I miss the culture and fear that guys like Pav, Crowley, Luke, Grover, Roger, Parker, Byron, Barlow all built.

Who are our legends now?? Who is going to stand up and be ruthless like Pav was when Harvey got axed?? ‘It is what it is, ok, let’s make this work’

We just don’t seem to have a way out. It’s Lyon comes good or we’re done. There’s nothing to fall back on. It’s roll the dice and rebuild again or hope that things get better.

Hope is not a strategy for success, but rebellions are built on hope. It’s a star wars quote, but they all died for some drawings and put them in a robot that only a chance of luck led to a one in a million shot. I’d like better odds.

My ramblings and pop culture references are my way of saying that I think we’ve got a rough path ahead. Maybe we can rebuild some of our old culture in the process to give us rebels something to enjoy, and a little less re-stumping of a cricket pitch that has nothing to do with playing competitive football.

Restumping of a cricket pitch? No wonder were rooted, I thought it was a house.

I actually thought I saw the green shoots of change in the way we positioned and moved the ball. Dare I say it, even some glimpses of the old passion at the start before we faded away.

In saying that, I am still amazed that Walters isn't played permanently in the forward line, with the new tall timber and the 666 rule changes, surely someone at HQ might have seen the value of putting him up there permanently.

The problem with glimpses of good, is that the forrest of poor skills and decision making, makes it bloody hard to see anything other than the dismal result.

What I will say is that no one wins a premiership in March (AFLW notwithstanding) so you can't read too much into it.
