It's the pre-season, you knew there was a 6 day break and you knew the players had played in 40 degree temperatures, allow for it in your selection and game time. Don't blame the AFL because of your own mismanagement.

A summer of training and sharpening the disposals after the last 3 years would have had me feeling a lot better about how the season is going to progress. This Wax on Wax off stuff is doing my head in.

Why do you say the skills were worse in the second half?

We played the first quarter booting it long with the wind and then sent 18 people down there to protect the ball. That's not skilful. It's brute force and it's unsustainable.

Where do we start Noddy?
The other team upped their effort and we couldn’t go with them
We couldn’t cope with extra pressure
We had an ordinary half time address by the coach
We lack commitment and cohesion
We have no game plan
Etc etc ... take your pick... any of all of the above can contribute to a drop off in skills. The fact that we have s good first half doesn’t mean we are are skilful team when we come off 7 day breaks.

We draft players on their skill level - these are skills that each player has developed since childhood. After they get into a club the skills are...oh, I see what you mean.

Noddy, skills were not on display in first half. More manic footy, crumbing clumsy attempts at goal. By half time, people had spent their petrol tickets and the Slime just cut us up with good consistent ball movement, hitting targets, honouring leads.

Just because you have skills, if you are not coached and made to practise the skills, well you don't improve them, they don't become a second nature thing. Goal kicking is a classic example.
