Walter the baker
Not much really

... oh, except that Darcy Moore needs to get his roots bleached

... oh, and the air around Joondalup must really pong if the best place to view the game is next to the dunnies (thanks for taking up ten minutes of game time with that observation Derm)

Not sure why you bothered Walter but I'll have a go.

The problems of skill, composure and field organisation still stand. And in fact seem on today's evidence to be worse.

Our small forwards worry me, Ballantyne and Matera. And Hughes and Tucker signify our broader problems - all heart no polish.

My prediction. Lyon to get extended by two years before July.

I learned that failure ISN'T feedback.

If you ignore then you can continue to do the same things without actually having to worry about doing anything...or being accountable

That although I have spent the off season trying to maintain a balanced and positive approach to this season, I am very close to coming unhinged if we can’t start to play some footy that shows any form of fluency.

Antoni Grover has switched to the Number 2 guernsey, but went alright.
Cam Sutcliffe looked a bit quicker.

DTBS,

its very difficult, nigh on impossible, to show any fluency when you can't hit a target and plan A, B and C is to kick it long. Fluency absolutely requires better skills than we have, confidence in those skills and the chance to execute those skills.

You don't have the skills, you don't develop the confidence and then you compensate by doing clever things like handballing to a bloke standing still instead of say, kicking it to a leading forward.

Effort is fine but if all you do is run everybody into the ground and then turn the ball over the your opponents, then all of that effort is wasted

But thats just me.....and premiership winning coaches

I didn’t watch the whole game but from what I saw I’m a bit worried but about our chances of great improvement in 2019. If I’m worried RL should be too.

They spread quicker than us and were way more clinical inside their attacking 50. Bomb it long is the easiest football to play, but you've got a 1 in 10 chance of it paying off - it didn't with us today.

I kind of wonder what good a preseason is - sure, the players all look beefy and fit, but then you look at that skinny weiner Stephenson and marvel at his skills and you think all the gym work is stupid.

We've got some really great players, I just hope someone down in Cockburn can come up with a plan.

...is that everyone on DL at the moment is very pessimistic. Ferchrisakes it's bloody JLT shite, first hitout with the new recruits, and we lost to last years grand finalists by a few goals. who gives a fat rats? Where's Jezza? Last year we beat the slappers and look how that year turned out.

I learned that people take the first game of the pre-season much more seriously than I do.

OGS JLT1: What I learned 5 years 1 month ago #14

OGS
Replaced by Trent Cooper ie more attacking game plan
Our assistant coaches still exactly the same as the last few years, what about some new blood with fresh ideas and stratergies
Hopefully Belly can ring some changes for next year but think we are stuck with Roly for all of 2019 as who amongst all those assistants would be able to take over
