It’s early days but that 2016 draft will be very handy if Logue gets a run at it and can go from looking a million bucks to playing well.

8: Griffin Logue
38: Sean Darcy
41: Brennan Cox
66: Luke Ryan
Rookie: Taylin Duman

Given we got CamMac and Darcy’s pick (I think) for trading down from 3 to 7, if CamMac puts it all together that was a great offseason.

I think since 2016 our recruiting and drafting has been amongst the best in the competition.

They were asleep at the wheel "in premiership mode" for five years ahead of that.

The next five to seven years are exciting for Fremantle.

Well......Im not exactly sure he is wrong with that analysis is he??

Don't get me wrong - I see HUGE upside in Logue, and recognised, saw & supported his potential in the few games his played, when many others on DL wanted to 'have a jab' at him.

But I'm not certain Griffen has done quite enough in his 13 games as a #8 draft pick to justify "top 20" in this exercise.

I mean, you'd have to have the ol' purple tinted glasses seated firmly on your bonce, WTB, to suggest that??

Hodor, however, is a different case.

Pick 38, with few credentials worthy of note, carrying the ruck and pushing bigger, more experienced, and, more athletic blokes aside, is definitely worthy of the recognition this bloke has given.

Not many 19 yr olds walk into a club and do that, and, they definitely aren't pick 38 if they do...

Hats off to the journo , I reckon...

More importantly, 'hats off' to Sean Darcy. He's gonna be great for us for a lomg time.!

CamMac strikes me as one of those guys who will frustrate you a bit, but that could easily pop up and kick four goals to win a GF. He’s one of my favourites, and there probably isn’t a guy on the team I’m pulling for more.

I must admit, I probably haven’t rated Darcy as highly as this. I thought he was a steal, but I’m not sure I’d take him over McLuggage or Torranto.

Just a clarification Clet, I wasn’t pumping up Logue (for the very reasons that you mention). My intention was to highlight that we can’t say that we had a good draft in 2016 based on Darcy being highlighted, while ignoring how our other picks have gone. Good on the club for getting Darcy but I think we have a long way to go before we can judge the class of 2016.

Chris Doerre is Knightmare who does a lot of analysis for each draft. He would have a databank on each player likely to be drafted, so it is not surprising that he follows what happens to various picks. He didn't pull names out of a hat. Sean Darcy is a great value pick. Rucks are high risk in a draft, and so valuable. Freo did do very well. How high did Brodie Grundy and Matthew Kreuzer go?
