Yeti, no-one is saying they want to put a player at risk of greater injury. They are saying there is no greater risk running in the midfield. They run the same distance these days, and probably at less intensity in the midfield. It’s a red herring.
I also said at the end of last year I’d prefer Hogan play more up the ground with Tabs closer to goal, because Hogan is better below his feet, and I’d much rather Hogan kick it to Tabs than the other way around. I’ve also said a number of times our midfield looks light on. This isn’t some justification people are just making up.
It’s fine if you disagree on positioning, but ascribing motivation where none exists makes you loom a little obsessed. Likewise, my earlier ‘different simulations’ line was meant to be a good-natured way of saying we see the world differently. You took it as a dig, but it honestly wasn’t my intention.
I just think if you’ve got Tabs, Lobb and Hogan it makes sense to look at creative ways to play them. This isn’t really that creative seeing as it’s how he played all last season to good effect.
Also, it was an intra-club game and he kicked 2 goals and gave off another in his first hit out. It’s a bit early to say it’s going to hurt his goal scoring.
