High-profile Fremantle midfielder Harley Bennell has suffered a blow in his bid to play his first AFL game since 2017 after straining his calf on Friday.

The Dockers last night confirmed Bennell had scans on Saturday which showed he had suffered a minor strain. Fremantle are yet to place a timeline on the injury and he will now reduce his training to give him the best chance of a quick return.

It won't because we are stupid.

If he were 30, they'd put him on a modified program and have him roaming around the forward line where his football skills would be devastating.

Instead, they refuse to play the hand they've been dealt and won't play him unless he's fit enough to play a dominant role in the midfield. I know it's a big ask but we need to find a fitness bloke who can tie his own shoes.

At this point, he should just retire and go play for Subiaco , that's his best bet at getting the calves fixed, then he can get picked up by an afl team and start fresh,

When Collingwood signed Daniel Wells on a lucrative 3 yr contract, they were hoping to get 15 games a season out of him. He’s played 15 games in 3 years. What’s the issue. Bennell has time on his side. I’m still backing him in. And I’ve got full faith in our medicos to get him to the line this year.
