I thought it was for international markets and rugby strongholds with rectangular pitches, a sport that's easy to pick up and play. However all I've heard is it's for the kids who I thought were already pretty well entwined and entertained by AFL.
Then they've also made up a bunch of convoluted rules that makes it tough to understand. I mean, you can kick a goal for 6pts through the big posts. Unless its touched then its 1 point. Or if it's through the little posts it's 1 point. But if you kick it from behind the "launch zone" its 10 points; and if you kick it from behind the launch zone, and someone marks it in the "forward zone" and kicks it through the big posts, that's also 10 points. But then in the last 5min of the game, one player will become the "Gatorade Game-Changer' and if he kicks it, it's worth double points to whatever previous scenario occurred.
This is also going to occur just once with kids needing to grasp the concept in a couple of hours before forgetting it all for the repeat 12 months later. Just plain dumb really.
