Great to see Johnno back at the club but personally I'm devastated to see our high performance rowing coach leaving.....to go to a job as a rowing coach. Flabbergasted at this idea.

Why do we need an indigenous liaison officer? A third of the team is Indigenous.

We need to get Jeff Farmer back as a forward liaison officer.

Most sensible suggestion you, or anyone, has come up with in 5 years, Cletus.

Why do we need an indigenous liaison officer? You need to check in with Jezza on that. Remember he is privy to things in the workings of the club that us plebs are not apparently.

“Michael is a proud Indigenous person and a proud Fremantle person, which makes him a really good fit for the role,” Bell said.

Enough said.

Of course, he's a good fit for the role, jezza, but it does strike me a little odd.

We have a history of playing indigenous footballers and as already been said, a third of our playing list are indigenous boys. So why after 24 years have we suddenly realised that we need one.

Don't get me wrong, I think its a terrific idea but I would have thought that we would have got past the liaise bit by now and developed some real understanding of indigenous culture. I'm sure there is always somebody you could ask if you were unsure of anything.

Personally, I'm pretty happy to keep first Johnno at the club

“He’ll be able to draw on his experience to help our players but also work closely with Tendai Mzungu and the Next Generation Academy as we look to grow the game in the Kimberley.“

Seems like a pretty great reason to me.

While some are debating the need for an indigenous liaison role, I’m still contemplating the departure of our rowing coach. Perhaps one of the stranger appointments by Freo and not one that seems to have delivered benefits that are visible to the outside world.

WTB,

I'm not sure what you've been looking at the last few years but I can clearly see his influence on the club.

After all, we've spent the last 3 years going backwards

The rowing coach as was one of those things people do when they don't want to admit what the real problem is.

A bit like an Indigenous liaison officer.
