TOPIC: An open letter to a stadium

shane An open letter to a stadium 5 years 3 months ago #1

shane
Dear Optus Oval

I went to the football a lot last year and on multiple occasions I was asked to remove my phone from my pocket so the security guard to make sure it wasn't something other than a phone.

I will be going to the football a lot this year as well, can you guarantee I won't be subjected to nazi propaganda when I sit down to enjoy the football. It seems like a minimum standard of care.

Perhaps you could get the gentlemen who wanted to see my phone to use the same diligence with checking on grown men walking through the gate with a massive banner.

Sincerely,

shane

It's OK to carry a phone?

Also a separate line for the no bags express lane might work.

I can sort of understand how they managed to smuggle the banner in (fold it down and put it in a bag so it could be a lap blanket or bum cushion) but what I can’t understand is how the perpetrators are not now on a banned list. Do the powers that be really think they or any of their right wing mates are in any way discouraged from doing it again?

I’m with shane. I don’t go to a sporting arena to be exposed to nazi propaganda. If I wanted that I would watch Sky News.

Must admit I was curious how they got a banner in given I can’t even get a sealed bottle of water in there ...

Maybe there’s a stall somewhere in the stadium selling overpriced mid strength banners ...

In fairness to the stadium management, a motion in the Senate last year with exactly the same words was only defeated 31-28. In deciding whether to outright ban those two racist idiots, i can understand why they probably felt a little uncomfortable holding them to a higher standard than our elected racist idiots.

They are white supremacists. If that confuses someone working surveillance and security then I'm not sure they should be in the job.

The same could be said about the senators.

Maybe harsh on the senators, Shane.

I didn't know that phrase had been adopted by white supremacists until it came out after the senate vote.

As for the cretins at Perth Stadium, they have no excuse. People know what is intended by that statement now. I'm not surprised that Hanson put that motion up though.

Clearly just an administrative error, Shane.

This would become quite awkward as some supporters can become quite 'excited' at times at the footy and it doesnt involve the phone! It gives a whole new meaning to "hard ball get". I wonder how the security handbook covers that one!!

It’s a hard job stopping idiots, just ask the Wapol people.

Provocative boof heads they were, but it will be a slow entry to the ground if they have to get everyone to empty their bag looking for paper and crayons.

Do something like that and have a two year ban in place....about the only deterrent I can think of other than having a big cockroach scanner.

Ban eagles supporters from the ground, 24/7. That should solve this and a lot of contamination issues.

Based on comments I have heard from idiots sitting near me we have our share of racists too.
