I get your point but I don’t think it’s such a big deal. I’m not into the superstitious angle but kind of like the idea of one game a year where punters don’t have to deal with blokes who cant watch a game without a drink and their associated boofish behaviour. You’d think that three hours, once a season, was the end of the world.

Just plain funny was a game played on the oval next to Beatty Park cnr of Charles and Vincent 1978 when the goal umpire, me the full forward, and the op fullback under a umbrella standing in a pond both ends...never saw the ball once.
The three of us decided we had enough half way through the last quarter and went for shelter and no one noticed.
