Whether you're someone who doesn't care or someone who starts getting the shakes by quarter time without a bit of beer in you, I just think that this is something that the people of WA should decide on. As in, actually discuss it, debate it and then try and form some sort of community decision about the sale of alcohol on Good Friday, rather than have AFL House make a decision from Victoria that WA should hold an event which is only economically viable through the sale of alcohol on Good Friday.

As someone who spends a fair bit of time on here discussing drinking options before games, even I will occasionally abstain from drinking at footy matches.

Like when I’m really hungover from the night before.

I reckon Good Friday Footy is a good thing, and if the trade-off is that Eagles fans have to make a sacrifice of not drinking I’m comfortable with that. After all, Jesus gave up his whole weekend for our sins, the Eagles fans can give up their pre-game Chardy.
