Jezza, I’m pretty deeply scarred from my years as a freo supporter but I’m pretty bullish about AB and AC. They’re impressive young men and so against my better judgement I’m feeling hopeful that this year is going to be better. I admire your positivity and hope that others on this site are forced to eat humble pie as we blitz the 2019 season. Unfortunately I suspect it might be us doing the eating but here’s bloody hoping we’re not!

I am bullish and believe we have built a balanced squad that will make the eight and be taken seriously once there. It will take a year for team to reach its full potential and become a genuine contender.
I would be very cautious in paying much attention to me, as I am still holding out hope for what Bennell can contribute and hoping that McCarthy can play a role as a third forward.

AB + AC...got a fair run at things last year, and, we are gonna reap the benefits of them having 20 odd games under their belt.

Obviously AB would have got another couple up if it were not for pure thuggery......

Does it not stand to reason that a fellow like Sturt, and Valenti - or one of the mature agers - get a similar 'go'.??

If so where would they fit in??.....is it an assumption that AB for instance is a walk up start??, or, is Bailey Banfield the one to suffer even though i thought his contribution last year was fantastic.

Pretty hard to see where - excepting injuries - we get these quality draftees 'up to speed' as soon as we can.??

Especially if fellows like Colyer and Conca are to be walk up starts.

For mine, if Sturt is anywhere near a 'Fyfe 2.0", you are getting him in on a half forward flank as soon as you can, and getting games into him.

I' d rather suffer his inexperience in comparison the Mcarthy' s continued poor form....

Clete, with a young group like we have, the ability to give them a break before they get run into the ground will be invaluable. The lack of that option was the shove that got rid of Harvey.

Good point RM....suddenly we have depth & competition for places. Have we ever been in such a position across all lines??

There are jst about 2 legimate reserves for every line - as far as i can see - some experienced, some inexperienced.

Competition for places creates strength....provided someone doesn't "play his favourites". Think the competition for places will mean a spot on the grass will be 'truely earned' from here on in....

I'm getting very 'Jezzerish' about this season.....!!
