Happy NY to all. Thought I start this thread with my predictions for 2019. And before you rolled your eyes consider our last 3 years. It can’t and it won’t get much worse. Our 2 top 5 picks of 2018 will be the catalyst of our success this year. AB has already shown this preseason that he’s an elite runner. This kid has the smarts to go with his endurance. He plays very much like McCrae from the bulldogs. With Neale gone, we’ve got someone who’s more then capable of taking the mantle. If you look what Neale achieved in his rookie year then have a look at Brayshaw’s performance, you’d understand my excitement.

AC on the other hand is a Simon Black in the making. His not yet an elite runner but that’s overlooked by the way he finds the time to execute. Another preseason under his belt and this kid will be worth renewing your membership just to watch him play.

So, I’m predicting that Freo 2019 will be remembered with four letters. AB & AC. Oh and September dreaming.

Pre-season is the right time to be optimistic. If last year’s horror result in the GF proves anything it is that anything’s possible.

Personally, my optimism is somewhat muted but I can’t help but feel our list has improved dramatically over the last two years. Fingers crossed Ross doesn’t bugger it up.

I’ve never been more optimistic if that’s possible. We’ve been ranting about key forwards, we’ve now got 2 in our sky rocket. We’ve been ranting about the loss of AA Luke and Johnno’s replacements, we’ve got 2 down back that’ll more then do the job. Sandi and Mundy still got a couple of rounds of ammo to fire. Then we’ve got a galaxy of young talent time. C’monnn as Leyton Hewitt would bellow. You know we’re gonna be in for a good time.

Injuries were a killer last year. With a fit squad and tall forwards, Freo will be competitive.

The other improvement has to be wins away from home. If you can snag 3-4 of those, you're in a much better position.

Finals probably not but 10-12 wins would be a good springboard for next year.

A good new year to everyone, I hope the holidays were good and that you're all well.

I agree that we've got a great list - if they gel together we should be formidable this year. AB looks like he's eating properly again and AC looks heavier as well. But there's this thing called the 'second year blues' that either could suffer from. It's a real thing, many good players have suffered a drop in form after a good debut season. I hope neither does, but odds are one will. But unlike previous years we've got solid coverage.

This should be a very good year - I reckon we'll surprise a lot of people.

Every reason to be optimistic Jezza.Sandi and Darcy are fit,we have some forward targets and we might even see Logue and Bennell play this year.With natural improvement from our new players and Blakely in the guts,the sky is the limit!My predictions aren’t great though,this time last year I was predicting the Eagles to be bottom four.

Don’t be so hard on yourself Rooster. You were no less accurate with your 2018 predictions than some others on this site. You had WCE bottom four and Jezza (with self stated inside knowledge of the club) had us top four. At least you have acknowledged your errors.
Hopefully the table will turn this year.
