Yeah, but his cuddling is elite. I think Conca will be more useful than Sheridan, and he's a different sort of player in any event. He's much more likely to win the hard ball or stick a tackle, and he has a slightly better step in traffic. He also gets a little more of it. He's an inside mid, and I reckon he was only named on half-back to squeeze him into the team. I don't think there would be any intention to use him with ball in-hand off half-back.
And Jezza, I think we may have a slightly different view of what a star is. I reckon to be considered a star you’d need to be in serious consideration for the AA squad of 40. Fyfe, when fit, is a monty, as was Neale. Mundy at 33 years is a complimentary player now, Conca (when he can get on the park) is a role player, Blakely has never played sustained minutes in the midfield, Cerra and Brayshaw might get there but I reckon are still a year or two away. I reckon B Hill and Langdon are very good outside runners, but I’m not sure they are the best in the league in that role (although if Langdon can finish the season the way he started last year, and B Hill can stay on the park and tidy up his kicking a little, both could get there).
There's a bit to work with, but I don't think we have a top 8 midfield. Will our backline and forward line make up for that? I guess we'll see. I have my doubts because I reckon the forwards will need a year gel.
