yep- fair call. Lots of long bows being drawn here. I'm not buying into any Roly-sacking-her-conspiracy either.
Point is - was she fired? Did she resign?
If so, why claim the position was made redundant? Will the position be refilled?
Quick check shows every other AFL club has at least 1, if not two persons in the role of HR manager (whether it be people & culture, or any other current title). We are the only ones who apparently have no need of that role/position. Notably, the role is almost always a woman. Presumably partly because in male dominated organisations, it is good to bring some alternate viewpoints into the organisations and provide some cultural balance. If you don't have that role in the organisation, then good luck breaking up the boy's club.
So redundancy is patently absurd as a reason and that means there is more to it. It may be nothing more than protecting the outgoing employee's reputation. But there are plenty of other ways to handle that. It may be that Nicole had a gutful and wanted out - but why then not just say that she is seeking "other challenges".?
The departure is sudden. It is - even you, Morgan, can't deny that. If this is part of a planned and measured restructure - to quote Steve:
CEO Steve Rosich said the restructure was planned.
“The restructure of our football operations was undertaken with the aim of ensuring that we are best placed to drive our future on-field performance, develop our young playing list and provide an environment for our players and football staff to thrive, grow and improve,” Rosich said
Then why did she leave suddenly. Or was she completely unaware of the restructure. Kind of bizarre as head of HR ... She hasn't updated her Linked In profile (normally pretty high in the agenda for a career HR professional who is undertaking a planned move). A month ago she shared the following quote on LinkedIn:
"If you don't like where you are, move. You are not a tree."
No news item on her departure - no "thanks for 8 years of loyal service". Nix. I note the club website has not been updated and still shows her in the role with her bio. I would bet money that the org charts in Rosich's office still show the position in place as well. But that last is conjecture.
Which is really my point - when something like this happens, and you treat people like morons and throw out patently absurd reasons and comments with no substance to support them, you create an atmosphere that generates rumours and speculation. People will look for the substance to the story, and in the process, probably generate a lot of complete nonsense.
There probably is very little to the whole episode, and probably has nothing at all to do with Ross Lyon, but what is certain is that the club and Rosich were caught off guard by her departure, hence the pathetic attempt to gloss over the real reason was with corporate wankwords like "restructure" & "best placed to serve" and misdirection by way of reference to the football department and on-field success (hey, does everyone remember that we got Hogan!) - the typical Rosich fall back position whenever he has to think on his feet, and the now standard substitute by the club for any real information or meaningful discussion.
So disappointing.
