Her role was made redundant. She didn't leave, nor did she get sacked.
So there it is. That's not fake news. That was in the statement from Freo.
The dude who is in control of the in house servers gets made redundant when you switch to cloud servers. ie. the job doesn't exist any more. The dudes who used to run along behind the rubbish truck, grabbing the bins (and kicking your rubbish everywhere if you didn't leave them some beers at Christmas) got made redundant when those new trucks with the lifty things came into vogue. Those are redundancies.
No matter how much we all hate them at times, and wish them gone, organisations actually do need someone who is directly responsible for the hiring, firing and employee retention practices and policies. You just do. Show me a major organisation that doesn't have an HR manager role.
So this will all be made transparently absurd the moment that someone else takes over that role. It will be under a different title, and purportedly combine other roles, but they'll end up being the HR Manager. And if combined, they'll split them again in 6 months when the heat is off. And if anyone asks, it will be a "failed efficiency experiment".
The thing that hurts is not the cover up. Organisations do that all the time, and if they do it well, no-one has to hear about it. What hurts is how inept we are at it, and the belief by club management that I am so stupid that I could actually - even for a second - swallow the story they provide.
It beggars belief.
