Shane, re post #40 you are going to need more than a passing aquaintence with high school English to understand any press release from Lyon or Rosich. Or some of the posts on Dockerland.

The HR manager where I work got the chop a few months ago. The bloke who acted in the position for a few months after that got the chop as well. Does it mean anything? I've got no idea. But I'm sure you could talk to a few disgruntled former employees and drum a good story up.

Freo have been turning over employees and players at a rapid rate lately. Almost as though the club feels under terrible pressure to improve.

I'd like to know the truth about what is going on at the club, but I'm pretty sure I won't get it from a newspaper that has never wasted a chance to sink the boot into us.

rr,

I can understand your point of view as far as the worst is concerned but there appears to be a pattern of conduct thats been observed before. Some of established conduct has definitely been unsavoury and certainly the message being presented by the club doesn't even look like there is any factual basis to what is being presented.

In fact, as I've pointed out before, it's illogical at best to make the statements that were released by the club.

The big concern for me is it looks like St Kilda all over again and that should be the last thing any true supporter of the club would want to be seeing. The fact that these 'events' continue to occur must cause some concern and I certainly can't dismiss it it out of hand as some on here do just because the worst enjoys putting the boot in. They can't make up stuff of this nature because the media is currently very vulnerable to defamation proceedings after some recent decisions where before times, they could get away with much more.

We all know HR people and depts if we work in med to large companies.

When has any HR person had any direct relevance to whole company performance? Individual staff issues and performance, yes. The company bottom line and strategic direction? Please.

I don't know or care why the lady left. But Rosich's reasons are bollox. That suggests he's not saying something. Which he is able to murder whole paragraphs doing, until everyone reading (or god forbid, listening) gets bored or dies.

The media landscape we now live in is more-or-less dominated by a universal need for outrage. This is the new normal. Dockerland is no different. I guess it's an engaging form of entertainment for some people, but it has plenty of downsides, big and small, from the way organisations write waffling information-free press releases to the election of Donald Trump (Outrage Ninja) as leader of the Free World.

If you want more frank and open media statements, we collectively are going to abstain from outrage. Take a look around, that ain't going to happen. People can't imagine engaging with the world differently.

I am sorry could somebody please enlighten me about the multiple seedy stories coming out of the club? I am aware of the Lyon Christmas party one but have no recollection of any other stories of inappropriate organisational behaviour.
Also what happened down at The Saints that could be attributed to Lyon that we are in danger of repeating?

Not sure what happened with the Deaf Cheats, but I tell you the legacy lingers on.

A couple of weeks ago I was passing through a wheatbelt town and had to stop for petrol. When I went in to pay I noticed a St Kilda clock above the smokes cupboard - I asked the old bloke how his team was going. 'Horrible' he said, 'we've got an ok list but a hopeless coach that can't seem to get them going the right way'. 'Want your old one back, free gift?' I asked.

He froze, looked over my shoulder at my black ute outside (with my FFC plates) and stared me straight in the eye before replying 'I would rather die, you sorry fool, nothing would be worse than that.' He nodded over at his Bain-marie and continued 'i would eat those cornjacks over there for the rest of my life if he was our coach again - you want one mate?'

This wasn't the same wheatbelt town and place that sold the dodgy pie that made your dog spew I hope.

That was Northam, further down the track. It's pretty rare for a country roadhouse bloke to get rattled, but the suggestion of getting RoLy back sure fired him up.

Polly, that roadhouse fella felt just like you would if some-one told you Damian Drum was on his way back to replace Lyon. Cut him some slack.

Her role was made redundant. She didn't leave, nor did she get sacked.

So there it is. That's not fake news. That was in the statement from Freo.

The dude who is in control of the in house servers gets made redundant when you switch to cloud servers. ie. the job doesn't exist any more. The dudes who used to run along behind the rubbish truck, grabbing the bins (and kicking your rubbish everywhere if you didn't leave them some beers at Christmas) got made redundant when those new trucks with the lifty things came into vogue. Those are redundancies.

No matter how much we all hate them at times, and wish them gone, organisations actually do need someone who is directly responsible for the hiring, firing and employee retention practices and policies. You just do. Show me a major organisation that doesn't have an HR manager role.

So this will all be made transparently absurd the moment that someone else takes over that role. It will be under a different title, and purportedly combine other roles, but they'll end up being the HR Manager. And if combined, they'll split them again in 6 months when the heat is off. And if anyone asks, it will be a "failed efficiency experiment".

The thing that hurts is not the cover up. Organisations do that all the time, and if they do it well, no-one has to hear about it. What hurts is how inept we are at it, and the belief by club management that I am so stupid that I could actually - even for a second - swallow the story they provide.

It beggars belief.
