wwos.nine.com.au/afl/live-scores/fremant...018/104092309#lineup

That was our last lineup against a lucky grandfinalist. Four players are gone and some others might not make it back into the team round one. Its a lot to expect them to gel first up but we should be a significantly better side next year.

I take your point Lark, but how complicated is this game? All this talk about game plans and teams gelling, makes it sound like you have to be a Rhodes Scholar to succeed it in the AFL ... and we all know that isn’t the case as most players are closer to Neanderthal than Einstein.

Possible line up. There was talk of Cerra rotating through the middle from the back half. Some of the new fellas are jets, but who would they replace?

B:, Adam Cerra, Joel Hamling, Luke Ryan,

HB: Reece Conca, Alex Pearce, Nathan Wilson,

C: Bradley Hill, Connor Blakely, Ed Langdon,

HF: Matt Taberner, Jesse Hogan, Travis Colyer,

F: Michael Walters, Rory Lobb, Cam McCarthy,

R: Sean Darcy, Nat Fyfe, David Mundy,

Int: Stephen Hill, Andrew Brayshaw, Bailey Banfield, Brennan Cox,

Unlucky: Aaron Sandilands, Harley Bennell (few games @ Peel?), Griffin Logue, Taylin Duman, Switkowski

?? Sturt (hf), Valente (mid), Bewley (wing), Schultz (small forward)

That's a short backline and a tall forward line. Cox into the backline for Cerra. Cerra to the bench to rotate through middle. Switkowski or Balla into the forwards for McCarthy

Pre season form, injuries and development of last year's crop will determine round one team.
I reckon cammac will need to syep up in a big way to gain a spot and then maintain it. The likes of Crowden, North and Dixon will have their first full pre season...anything could happen.

There is a danger in starting too many newbies for Rd. 1. If our pre-season goes to plan, and there’s no significant injuries to report, this should be our 22.

Backs: Wilson, Hamlin, Logue
HB: S.Hill, Pearce, Ryan
C: B. Hill, Blakely, Langdon
HF: Cammac, Hogan, Tabs
F: Ballas, Lobb, Banfield
Ruck: Darcy, Fyfe, Mundy
Bench: Cerra, Brayshaw, Cox, Bennell

There’s also Sandi. He needs to play the early rounds if fit. There’s a few I’ve missed. But we need a strong 29-30 players contending each week. No doubt we’re building that depth.

Jezza can’t believe you left out Sonson Walters, I would replace ballas with him.

Like I said, there’s plenty I’ve missed. Yeah an oversight J55. Walters in, Ballas out. It’s going to be tough at match committee each week. How did we suddenly assembled talent this quick? If HB gets his act together, we’ll have star power in every round. The footy landscape can change pretty quickly. Fun times ahead and that’s not being optimistic.

Getting players on the park is the biggest challenge. Did Freo put out its best 22 in any game in 2018?

I'm not a big fan of playing S. Hill in the backline, unless you're trying to turn him into Lewis Jetta. He and his brother are both wingers.

Same goes for Cerra. You don't put a #5 draft pick in the back pocket.

Brayshaw, Cerra & Banfield were all played early, so why not give Valente a go.

B: Duman Hamling Ryan
HB: Wilson Pearce Langdon
C: B. Hill Mundy S. Hill
HF: Tabs Hogan Cerra
F: Walters Lobb Macca
R: Darcy Fyfe Blakely
I: Brayshaw Banfield Cox Valente
E: Conca Ballantyne Sandilands Colyer

Backup: Hughes Nyhuis Giro Logue Crowden Tucker Switkowski

NFG: Matera Bennell Kersten

Davo thats looking close to me but too tall. Cox or Macca out – in Switz or the little bloke who kicked four in his last to play until he doesn't and then joins the other nice family guys.

Davo I`d.....
Add Logue for height and speed (193cm), Nyhuis to take care of the "Flyin Ryan" types. Rest of the backline selects itself if Logue can be the third tall.
Get rid of Langdon on the wing, too many turnovers and put the guy ranked number one for elite disposals and accurate inside 50s in the VFL (Bewley) on the wing. (well it was some stat similar to that, cant be bothered to look it up again). Runs exactly like Judd but kicks better and is a left footer.
Cammac and Cox has to go with the new recruits, otherwise we will be too lumbering in the forward line. Inject young Sturt and pull Walters out of the middle to really give a spread of speed and height up there.
I havent put Bennell in because... well you know why. If hes fit I guess he squeezes in somewhere.

This new team is now a MUCH better kicking team. Probably only Fyfe, Blakely, Pearce, Ballas, Tabs and Langdon are the mediocre kicks and of them only Tabs and Langdon are truly bad. I expect a lot less turnovers next year.

This is no team of skinny kids any more. Look at that spine, thats solid muscle. Our Ruck division is pretty solid too.
The additions of Conca, Bewley, Lobb, Hogan and Logue are big lads. Injuries notwithstanding we should play finals next year.

(I can hear Hypen laughing)

This is my ideal team for round 1 (although Hogan/Logue may not be ready).

Backs: Logue, Hamling, Nyhuis
Half Backs: Ryan, Pearce, Wilson
Centerline: B Hill, Fyfe, Bewley
Half Forwards Sturt, Hogan, Walters
Forwards Ballas, Tabs, Lobb

Ruck Sandi, Mundy, Blakely

Int: S Hill, Brayshaw, Conca, Langdon

Emergencies Valente, Cerra, Banfield, Duman

Peel: Bennell, Swita, Colyer, McCarthy, Cox, Schultz, Hodor, Carter, Watson, Meek, Crowden, Kersten, Tucker Hughes, Giro, North, Dixon etc.

Collingwood weren’t lucky, they played great football for most of the year.

I recall Langdon being their tallest defender against us and they still won.

It defies belief that you guys think this team plus Hogan and Lobb and minus Neale is going to romp home.

The net differnce in goals with Lobb and Hogan coming in will be plus 2 a game. Have a look at our average losing margin!

The list is a mile away from being a top four team in terms of development. The midfield is inadequate. This is preseason talk.

Presumably the club expect Schultz and Bewley to get a regular game. You don't take two 20+ VFL players in the draft just to bolster Peel.
