Valente is a talent and a leader, a fantastic pick up in the 30's. He is a big, hard at it inside bull who can play on the outside too. I had him going much earlier so to slip to our pick is an absolute steal and we should be celebrating hard.

He's also a player who could come straight in and have an impact similar to a Powel-Pepper, so we may get to see him in 2019 if he has a good pre season. Seeing him combine with Cerra and Brayshaw has me much more confident in Freo's engine room over the next decade.

This is getting challenging. After watching Sturt's highlights, I could easily see him carrying the mantle of #29, but jeez, Valente looks like he could be 'the man' — from Norwood (which is near enough to Woodville-West Torrens) so he has the right geographic origins to wear the sacred number; excellent pedigree and performance; captain experience. He also has a family name that is not WASP. Fully qualified.
If he shows promise, we just need to find him a lovely WA partner to meet and settle down with here .... at least that was the theory (for Pav, Mundy, Subes, Brady Gray to name a few), until Lachie stuffed up the theory!
Looking forward to see Luke in action.
