Yes Sturt looks good seems to have potential ......but for once I would of liked us to be predictable , obvious......I just hope that Hill won't become a Darling number 2

He’s about the same size as a Darling number 2.

More important purplepower is that Sturt doesn't become a Pitt number 2.

Having looked up a little more of Sam and replayed the Stingrays GF with a closer eye on him, I'm very happy with this pick. He does have a bit of Gunston about him although I'd probably go with the Chopper Mayne comparison if Chopper could kick and didn't have injuries curtail his pace and leap. Maybe a little better in the air too.

The exciting part about a raw player like this that I think gets missed in draft calculations is that he isn't great aerobically yet and that's one of the easiest things to sort out at AFL level. You put in a couple of pre-seasons and all of a sudden an average player who struggles to get to contests is constantly in the play and not making tired decisions or using the footy with a tired body that makes mistakes.

In my opinion it's far easier to teach a player how to run all day than where to run and how to dispose of the footy under pressure both skills wise and mentally making the right decisions in a split second. Sturt already has these attributes so I'm hopeful as he progresses his fitness and grows in size, he could be a fantastic player.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Re Sturt , agree with all that Biz and using your usual refuse to pay overs for players philosophy, Hill going to GWS is another bonus for us. Let them develop him for two years and we can get him back cheap. Would have been harder if the Toast had picked up Hill.

To be perfectly honest, I didn't think the OOFTIT's were ever interested in Hill or a risk of taking him. They had Ryan, Rioli and Cameron in the academy along with more pressing needs elsewhere. Even as an outside runner if I Hill can make the transition to the midfield, I don't think he'd really suit what they were looking for.

At GWS he is every chance of coming back home to play with his cousins.

Sturt, Valente, Colyer, Concha, Lobb and Hogan for the loss of Lachie and with a dreadful hand at the draft.
Nice work from Docker Central for a change.
All 6 of them a chance to play in 2019.
This new Bell era has got off to a good start you have to say.

I'm going to put it out there, I don't think Bell had much to do with anything today. What would he know about the kids we're drafting having been appointed to his position a month or two ago? He hasn't been watching these kids for years and weighing up their ability to transition into the next generation of Freo footballers.

I think he would have gone through the Freo choices and 3 starred, 2 starred and NFG'd the selections

Bizkit Belly finished his radio stint early mornings so he had ample time to cast his beady eyes over the pickings sipping on his ABC coffee! Never ruin a good legend with a smattering of truth! The surprising thing for me was that Roly turned up and didn’t put an opponents jumper on Sturt.

Now that we are fully stocked with talls, I expect the AFL to come up with a rule change to make life harder for us. Like, say, getting rid of the hands-in-the-back rule...

Nah, they will get rid of the "chop the arms" rule.
