I phoned up a mate that I knew would be there (and he gave me a rundown of the trial). Apparently Matt Taberner shot off the line and blitzed everyone at the start, then he came to the first turn at the eastern end of the oval. Despite having full crank to the left he had to stop, reverse, recalibrate and adjust his turn. The whole field ran past him on that first bend - by the time he made it around, sprinted along the straight and was trying to work out the other end he'd been lapped - according to my mate, even Sean Darcy lapped him. So they sent out one of the trainers to try and get him to lean into the bend - he tried it without stopping but fell over trying too hard. RoLy sent out word to get him to run in the opposite direction, turning to the right, but it was still too acute of a turn for the bloke and he ran into the fence two-thirds the way through. In the end he just ran straight down the middle of the ground and back - he's pretty good at turning when he's relatively still. Giro was Gatorading it before Tabs even got close to finishing 2ks .
