A good read. Would like to get him and Hill, but unsure that would happen. Stick with the W.A. kids in the early picks, then mature agers in the latter ones imo.

If he's around at our pick, you have to take him, he still has so much room for improvement but is already a fantastic player and will challenge the first 22 from Rd 1 next season.

Currently Clark is ranked in the top 10 (about 9) in most draft rankings. Ian Hill is about 17-19. I like the look of Liam Stocker and he will also be there or thereabouts at 14.

If we were one of those 'whatever it takes' type clubs, we would have probably started spreading rumours to interstate clubs of his likely homesickness months ago. You know, he's from a close-knit country family, and couldn't bear to be aware from his siblings Mitchell, Jye, Taite, and Tiarn for months at a time; that there was a likely CamMac situation on the horizon.

As it is he'll likely be gone and we'll take Hill. I'm good with that.

Interesting that both the S.A. clubs are supposed to be keen. I thought a lot of the early draft picks this year were supposedly from S.A. and that's why they did a lot of work in the trade period to get lower picks.

They haven't picked up high enough selections to get all of the SA kids so they'll have to take someone else once they all go. If they can package up their picks and somehow convince a club with an early selection to make a horrible mistake then Clark may go elsewhere.

I’m not sure about getting excited at who we pick with our draft catch this year. The whole draft caper is a lottery and I’ll stand by that statement till I fall off the perch. We’ve had our great picks and we’ve had some duds. That’s the same with all clubs. Some turn out to be premiership players, most don’t get a chance to play in GFs and then there’s Pav and Fyfe. So whoever we take with our 4 picks or so, let’s hope they make a difference.

I do enjoy the draft banter each year.

Latest AFL draft podcast with Kevin Sheehan and Cal Twomey (where they take actual picks and act as list managers with respect to bids for academy and father son aligned players) sees us taking Hill at 17 after 3 players are 'bid' on in first round.
