I do not understand this at all. If you want to work on tactics (which look pretty average to me), you spend more time at the club cutting up videos for the players to watch and learn from (at the clubs expensive facilities built for exactly that), you use the grounds to implement them (built to be adjustable and for exactly this purpose) and show players where to go and what you want to see from them.

If you want a trip away for the kids to bond, you go on camps around the state that cost little and have them work together, you don't go on an expensive long flight across the country to the party capital of Australia to teach a bunch of 18-20 year olds anything good, certainly not at the time of year when schooling is finishing.

This is a poor excuse for a party trip and a horrible waste of money.

Like some others, I'm having some reservations with this plan.

I can't see that they would learn anything on the Gold Coast that they couldn't learn here.

That and going there around the same time as schoolies must surely be a red flag. I don't see the point.

Wasted time and wasted money. Another step away from footy, and footy players. Give them a break from training, let them do what they want to do, and then crank up the pre season, working on fitness and skills. All this crap about game plans and strategy is a con to keep assistant coaches and other hangers on in money.

All those game plans and tactics last as long as the first miskick or dropped mark. It is then that the natural footy players like Walters, Hogan, Hamling and Darcy should take over. Not the "stoppage specialists", runners and umpires

I reckon they have done an injury review and possibly will be doing some resurfacing perhaps.

It defies belief they talk up this ETAF and then do pre season elsewhere.
