He's very, very quick and very, very skillful. He has good decision making as well.

He's exactly what we need. Another Michael Walters.

I'd have him in a heartbeat

Pick 14: It wasn't the best year for Ian Hill, but he remains one of the most talented players in the pool. Fremantle will look at him if he gets through to their selection. The local prospect is lightning quick, can carry the ball from end to end, and has the skill to match his cheeky play. The cousin of Dockers pair Stephen and Bradley Hill had his season cut short by shoulder surgery.

Around the mark: Liam Stocker, Chayce Jones, Jordan Clark

Do we agree the priority is a small forward?

Yeti, I am hoping he is more like the next Jeff Farmer, a small forward who can set the game alight.

We already have a lot of small forward types in Walters, Ballantyne, Matera, Switkowski, Bennell and Colyer. Do we need another? Jason Carter is also going to be available so Pick 14 will be interesting especially if Jordan Clark is still available. I'm leaning towards Clark but from what I've heard about Hill he does have a bit of X Factor about him and would certainly slot nicely into our forward mix. It's going to make the end of next season very interesting with our current abundance of talls and small forwards, some of whom will certainly be cut.

We won't have Ballantyne for long, though, and possibly not Bennell either. Matera is at risk too, if this year is any guide.

That's a much shorter list without those three and Walters is so good delivering the ball to the forwards that, as much as you want him up there receiving it, having someone else up there who can do what he does would give us important flexibility.

Gumnut,

Walters is playing more midfield these days and we do have a need to people of his calibre to deliver the ball better into our forward line such as it is.

Ballantyne: verging on retirement

Matera: verging on delisting

Bennell: verging on maybe getting a game, verging on maybe having a leg fall off or verging on getting himself delisted. Pick one because nobody knows what it will be

Switkowski: maybe.

Collyer: quick but sprays the ball a bit

Hill: quick and skillful

Yeah we can use somebody like him.

edit: beat me to it, moptop

Colyer was recruited to fill the speedy forward role until Hill develops enough to take it over full time, which from the look of could take all of the three years. Hill will get a few games next year and the year after. Ross loves having multiple players who can play the same role, so preseason will decide who out of Ballas, Colyer or switoski gets the gig for rnd 1

Who did we recruit to fill the gap until Cerra, Brayshaw and Banfield were up to AFL standard?? Remind me someone.
