391, I’m not sure about your up bringing but have you considered this lucky country of ours and then sort to think about the families not living in this lucky country. The Kelly family are not hard done by. In fact, consider the bond they’ll have looking after their nippers without close family support. I’m totally bewildered by the so called hard luck story in all of this.

I understand it's hard for a couple with small kids as I have two FIFO sons under 26 years. The expectations of support of this gen is expected and demanding. Advice to cope in situations are giving as all the parents within our group have been in worst situations living on 20% of earnings, but they prefer take to Kardashian helpline.
I wouldn't mind hearing views of Dayne Beams saying Collingwood is the only team that can help him recover.

Okay, Kelly wants out cause of serious support issues. They're big and a concern.
A WA team offers attractive picks to the contracted player's club and a great contract to the player. This brings a close to those serious support issues.
Player refuses, as he likes the team down the road more and barracked for them as a kid.

Apologies Shane for trivializing mental health issues, they're incredibly serious. Just not as serious as playing for your derby rival up the road.

I've been called worse Shane, but I don't have any bitterness towards Ms Miller, nor are my comments borne from footy parochialism on my part.

Life is full of trade-offs. WA is full of people who took jobs away from their family to try and earn a living. That came at a cost for many families. It's hard to weigh competing interests in a family. Geelong drafted Kelly and the Kelly family decided their interests were best served by moving to Geelong so Tim could play football. That decision stands to make him millions of dollars over the next 8-10 years.

I don't know whether Kelly's expectations about support were reasonable, nor whether Geelong met them. I do know that when the option to return home to play professional football for Fremantle presented itself, Kelly turned it down.

Life is full of trade-offs.

Ah boo hoo, I grew up in a mining town my family was really happy for 13 year then they closed the mine.
Then we moved to a mining town in the south west unfortunately we couldn’t live on those wages. So we moved to the Pilbara. I then lived in two more towns that had the doors shut.

To the impatient and the dismissive posters, you should read that article more carefully. Anyone who has gone through having a child tested - for autism or other special needs - and especially this lady with 2 other small children to look after - will know that she speaks truth. Melbourne does have good facilities for diagnostic testing so sure take advantage of that while there, but you need an employer that gets it and reasonably helps out. As for TK not being a good parent, that is harsh. I see a young inexperienced young man struggling with some particular family challenges, who deserves better from his manager, and probably from his club too. Geelong: engage.

Young players such as McCarthy going to Sydney Metro would take some time to come to grips with as the structure and mass of people is overwhelming. Being based out West in an area which 1% of the people would be even even follow the Rugby let alone AFL.
Victoria and even Queensland would be easier.
