Take it easy Capt S. I didn’t say LN was a crab. At the end of the day, Beams leaving, doesn’t help Lachie in a side that’s won less games than Freo over the last 3 years. Their midfield is no better than ours. But he’s gone to Brissie with the promise of captaincy and a lot of $$$$$. So we’ll just have to wait and see how that trade goes down. Will he make a difference to the Lions winning more games, maybe. Without Beams, I don’t think Brisbane made a significant improvement in their list.

Speaking of losers - one of the biggest from the Kelly fiasco must be that tool & Kelly’s manger Anthony VDW.

After making comments that Freo wasn’t a ‘destination’ club for his clients’ (even though he hasn’t had one on a Freo list for years), then failing to complete the trade for Kelly to the only other footy club in town- well, I don’t reckon he’ll have players rushing to sign with him.

If you’re going to talk a big game you need to be sure you have all your ducks lined up.

You need the intelligence and understanding of the club’s involved and their needs, capacity to meet demands and preferred outcomes. He lacked both.

Geebung’s was to keep Kelly - they did.

WC would have liked to get Kelly but it wasn’t a desperate need once they re-signed King Hitter.

It’s almost like VDW had only one strategy put together based on his loathing of Freo and Gaff going to NM. Once Gaff stayed, he still ran with the same ‘he’ll only go to Weak Coast’ line and now his client is where he doesn’t want to be.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Kelly represented by another manager this time next year.
