Hypen, remind me again why LN won't play for us in 2019

If there is one lesson that I have learned in the past quarter century, it is to NEVER, EVER underestimate Freo's capacity to disappoint.

Neale, according to Rosich, the club’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd preference would like to keep. He’s not gone yet. Fagan has been in town last few days dining with Cowboy. So maybe he’s had to unpack his bags. At this stage while we’ve not got 6, we’ve still got Neale. Kenny Rogers lyrics are ringing loud and clear, “You’ve got to know when to hold em, when to fold em, when to walk away when to run”.

Jezza, I think Kenny Loggins is drowning him out with Danger Zone.

Browski, he said so. I'm keeping my powder dry - but I can't believe Brissy have traded pick 5.

As Jezza has alluded to their could be other clubs in play.

My understanding is Neale does not want to play another year at Freo at which time he becomes a free agent. A party was falling over themselves to give us pick 5 in a strong draft and something else as compensation.

Sorry for not keeping my powder dry.

The deal this morning doesn't really affect Freo. The only difference is one place in the draft.

Brisbane gave up pick 5, but got pick 6 back.

Freo trades Neale to Brisbane for a deal packaged around pick 6.

Freo moves that pick 6 to Melbourne as part of the Hogan trade.

For the last time - Neale is a RESTRICTED free agent next year. Ergo, he cannot just ‘walk’ to BrisVegas.

All that is a moot point as apparently Melb will accept pick 6 and a future second ronder for Hogan as GC will accept pick 6 as part of a package to send May there.

What is now up for negotiation is what else Brissie give us for Neale? If it’s their future second rounder, that we can use to land Hogan - go for it.

WC reported to be offering next year’s second round pick plus picks 20 & 22 to get Kelly trade done. Hope that happens as they’ll have little to entice GWS to let Coniglio go next year.

The Purple Haze have arrived
It's the move we're all waiting for and we may be getting closer to some sort of resolution.

The Dockers have arrived with footy manager Peter Bell and CEO Steve Rosich heading to their superbox shortly before 1pm AEDT.

There was no comment from the Freo camp but Bell promised to speak on the way out, indicating there could be something worth talking about in the near future.

Hot on their heels were the Lions, returning from their lunch break.

Why Brisbane? He must be so angry or dissatisfied with the club.
Brisbane is on the way up which will make the AFL happy as their GWS and Suns didn't achieve what was planned.

I think Brisbane just had the good sense to ask the question, and had the salary cap space and draft picks to make it happen. There are probably only a few teams in the league where it would make sense to offer a huge salary and a top pick in a good draft to take a 25 year old fringe AA inside mid. Brisbane was one of them. Most teams would have told Brisbane to get stuffed, but Freo had an opportunity to turn that pick into Hogan.

From AFL Trade talk: Brisbane Lions has traded Future Round One Selection to the Gold Coast Suns for Rd 1 (19), Future Round 2 Selection & its Future Round 3 Selection (on traded from Hawthorn).

I am sure this means Lachie Neale is now a Lion.

Brisbane to give Freo Pick 6 and 19 for Neale (plus late pick swaps)

That’s a steal for Brisbane. See ya cowboy. But I’ll be booing you from today. This is important though:
Lachie Neale ranks No.1 in the AFL for contested possessions and clearances since 2016 (H&A only). Also, only Tom Mitchell has won more disposals than him.
