Polly, that might work in our favour if Brissie offer us both of those picks for LN.

Melbourne would have to accept a deal that doesn’t include pick 5 - even though it would still be 2 first round picks (11 & 18?) and we’d hold 8 and 13 to take to the draft.

Dont forget we have live trading aswell.
If we have a pick directly before Port and one of Rankine, Rozee, Lukosius are still available, Port may cough up even more for a pick swap

Swapping pick 5 for two lower 'first round' picks is a bad decision. They may be first round picks but that does not mean they are anywhere near the talent of that first half dozen. The players taken late in the first round are a world apart from the elite of this draft. Swapping 5 for two late first rounders is dumb in almost any draft let alone this one.

So essentially Belly has made a dumb move swapping pick 6 for pick 11, 23, 30 & 49. Geez most were celebrating that swap yesterday. Pick 5 or 6 or 7, does it matter.

If Freo can't get Hogan over the line from the receipts of trading pick 6, its a shocker.

Listen to what Bizkit is telling us, the draft doesn't run deep. Picks after 10 or so don't mean much.

If and it's a big if we get the Neale trade done we MUST use that pick in the draft.

We’ve already traded pick 6 to Port and effectively acquired a pick in the low 20’s, for free, as a result. That was done to strengthen our hand to land Lobb and maybe Langdon - while still keeping a reasonably high first round pick for the Hogan trade - or maybe to land Ian Hill in the draft.

If, as seems the consensus on here and the medja, we’ll need to part with pick 5 from the LN trade to land Hogan - then we won’t be taking that pick into the draft anyway.

So to swap out pick 5 for several first rounders makes absolutely no difference at the end of the day - if you accept that premise.

Or is there another solution to landing Hogan and Lobb AND retaining pick 5 (should LN go)??

I’m certainly yet to hear it from those demanding we get Hogan at any price Melbourne demand.

Anyone??

I think what some are failing to grasp is what's on offer in the national draft. Do we really want to be saying we could have had Rankine in a Freo jumper for the next thirteen years?

Why don't you all have a look at the highlights of Rankine, Walsh, Smith, Lukosius and the King brothers and then ask if you are ok with the fact we could have got two of them and ended up with none.

Two of them. Hogan my fat arse. Ask Polly, I have had to get out of his hatchback before.

So in other words, we keep pick 5 even if that means missing out on Hogan in the hope the high draft pick we’ll get from interstate will:

1) be the gun player his high draft pick status suggests - to the extent of offsetting the non-trade of Hogan

2) stay in a Freo jumper for the rest of his career, as Hogan most likely would, and not seek a trade home.
