If we don't trade Lachie this trade period, then we lose big time next year and miss the potential star this year too.

I see Brissie have offloaded their pick 24 but have received 32, 41 & 44. I just wonder if they are thinking of offloading their 32 & 44 for our 79 along with the Lachie + 5 deal?

How do we lose next year if we accept Brisbane's current offer as opposed allow him to walk as a restricted free agent. Is somebody expecting us to climb up the ladder considerably, based on the evidence before us we could very easily finish lower on the ladder than this year resulting in a higher pick than Brisbane's current offer.

If you're going after Hogan and Lobb, with Conca in the stable and another pre-season into AB, AC, both Hills stay fit, Fyfe at his Brownlow best, and other surprising trade moves, plus Roly's tenure hanging by a thread, our 2019 year will be a much happier one. So lets cut to the chase, ship Lachie out because he doesn't want to be here, get our priority trades done and get this train back on track. Lachie's departure will be a distant memory.

The mid-season draft next season for players overlooked in this draft will be great and interesting.

GWS want a pick under twenty for Lobb. Brisbane don't have that to give to us to give to GWS.

Forget Lobb. You don't need Lobb and Hogan.

We don't go into these trade weeks with clear objectives.

One criticism that could be never levelled at Freo is publicly revealing their trading and drafting intentions. I’m confident they went into trade period with a plan and am very happy for them to keep that plan to themselves.

The clubs largely keep their objectives to themselves, and the trade media is running non-stop, filling the airtime with rampant speculation. How could you possibly discern objectives or a lack thereof?

I don’t think anyone could say whether Freo are keen on Hogan or not, for example. That doesn’t mean Bell or Rosich are unclear about who they want. You could argue that if we knew their intention, so would Melbourne, which drives up the asking price. At the moment it seems like anything - or nothing - is in play. It’s not the worst place to be if you have competing clubs.

I’m hoping Freo are banking on Melbourne being tired of Hogan not committing fully to them, and that they’ll deal him for slightly less than market value rather than him bringing more drama to the club next year.

I reckon the objectives comprise of several options, because there are 17 other clubs who also probably have multiple options. And when there is so much negotiation and reliance on other clubs' decisions, aims etc...it can look pretty chaotic and unreasonable from our couches.

The Eagles need a ruckman they get a ruckman. No talk of Kelly or Lobb who doesn't want to ruck. Now they are free to pursue other players in the remaining days of trade period.

This Neale thing which is linked to Lobb and Hogan will go on to one minute prior to cut off, something will then get done, hell we may even end up with another two tall forwards to add to our existing six tall forwards. And as for the other holes on our list that you could drive a D9 through .......

No strategy. Stop getting distracted by who wants in and be clear about what we want.

Lobb and Hogan. My goodness.

Only 4 players unsigned (not their choice), only one player requesting a trade and players from other cluns nominating Freo as their destination club of choice.

Clearly a club in disarray, players deserting the sinking ship and no-one looking to join Freo.
(Sarcastica font removed)

Glad to see the club quietly getting on with the job of securing our future while others work themselves into a lather speculating like junk bond sellers in the 80’s.

and like those traders, most of it’s nothing more than worthless BS.

C’mon Hypen. West Coast needed a ruckman and got 27 year old cross-eyed hillbilly Tom Hickey for a third round pick. I mean, sure, I guess that’s executing a plan. We could use a key forward - should we trade a third round pick for Levi Casboult and call that executing a plan?

The degree of difficulty and stakes of the relative trades is a little different.

The underrated terrible part of West Coast winning a flag: long-term posters in Dockerland now thinking it’s ok to praise West Coast even when they don’t deserve it. We don’t need Dockerland for that, that’s the WA media’s job.

Nobody is praising the slime, Morgan but it's pretty churlish if you can't acknowledge they are doing some things right.

They still suck though

I don't doubt they are a better run club than Freo, but if you applied to West Coast the same level of criticism people on here apply to Freo, it would go something like:

i. Their conditioning staff mismanaged NicNat by deliberately getting so big that his body couldn’t keep up and he kept injuring himself and now may never be the same player.
ii. They were unable to retain their next best ruckman in Lycett (cultural problems, a rift with the coach?).
iii. The couldn't persuade Sandilands or any other free agent to move over for a year, even with the carrot of winning a premiership.
iv. Key target Rory Lobb didn’t want to join, and selected Fremantle as preferred destination instead.
v. They could only attract the second-best ruckman on the third worst team to join them, and they needed to give up a second round pick to do it.
vi. He looks like a damaged clone of Zac Dawson.

What would be described as a farce if it happened at Freo, Hypen describes that as a well-executed plan for West Coast.
