As mentioned elsewhere but deserving of its own thread, we are in a big spot of bother when player agents come out with comments like stuff Tim Kelly’s manager Anthony Van der Weilen. How bad are things when he says that he's had players at Freo and he doesn’t see it as a good place for Kelly. It is noteworthy that this assessment seems to be based on having no players at the club now and having had Haselby, Grover, Thornton and Farmer in the (distant) past.

Bizarre, incompetent management technique. Arbitrarily rule out one of your client's only two options for a trade based on what? Some half thought out opinion based on not having any players at Freo? The Slime will be rubbing their hands and cutting about 200k a year off whatever they were thinking of offering.

I think it's less damning of Freo and more damning of the manager. It's a pretty poor tactic to reduce your client's chance of a better offer.

Besides he hasn't had a client here at the club for some time so he's not talking from any recent experience

I think it’s more damning that a supposed Freo supporter would use the ill considered, half-baked ramblings of a clearly disenchanted individual (who happens to be a WC-supporting players’ manager) to try and attack the very club he purports to support.

So muppet VDW has also threatened his client will walk if he’s held to his contract after the 2019 season. Wow. So he goes into the draft I would’ve thought and no closer to coming home. I’d be sacking this manager for not getting my first priority and that is to go back to WA. This VDW bloke really knows how to piss people off.

I took the muppet agent's comments as meaning "Tim's a Weagles supporter and really doesn't want to play for the other team in town". I didn't interpret his comments as being particularly critical of Freo club culture or prospects, beyond the usual snide digs and arrogant mockery that Docker fans are subject to, by anyone associated with The Other Mob. I agree the comments seem foolish and unsophisticated, resulting in a greatly weakened negotiating position. 'Muppet' is apt.

Ok, so everyone wants to damn the manager. I get it. But Vanders isn't a dummy, he sits on the South's Bored (or at least he used to) and he experienced the final two years of Jeffrey's football with Freo. My memory isn't that short - I know a lot, but I'll keep it to myself - suffice to say Freo were doing everything to dump Jeff and Vanders worked his butt off to keep him on the park.

Vanders isn't an Egirls lover at all, but he has probably watched most of our unwatchable games this year and undoubtably decided that he was ethically bound to give Tim some solid advice. This isn't the advice I would give, but then again I'm not all that focussed on Tim's welfare - I assume Vanders is though.

Thanks for setting me straight Jason. From now on I will ignore any information that suggests that we may have some problems. I will do my best to accept that, despite a lot of data to suggest otherwise, we are a success story and we should be celebrating our current situation. I hope you are able to forgive me.

(Also, feel free to have a look at my contributions to this website since 2002, and you might find quite a few examples of where I have heaped praise on the club when it was deserved..... and I hope that I can do it again before I drop off the perch)

Point taken WTB, but I was referring to your more recent comments rather than the historical ones.

I don’t take what VWD or other medja types with axes to grind say as being examples of “damning’ indictments of the club. You chose to run this thread and as such, fair game to be held accountable for those comments.

The supposed ‘crisis’ we are in hasn’t lead to a mass exodus of players nor stopped others wanting to join us. So far we’ve recruited Conca and had Lobb nominate us. WC have lost a premiership ruckman, paid overs to hang onto a midfielder and had a former fan nominate them as his preferred club.

Line to two up and we don’t seem to be travelling too bad - in that respect.

Any muppet can point out the obvious - we’re playing inconsistent and often extremely poor footy. You don’t finish 16, 14 & 14 if you aren’t.

What does give me the irrits is people quoting said muppets on here as if that’s some genius analysis no one else has thought of before.

Perhaps we could send VWD, Cornes & Plough the latest research into dark matter and let them tell us what it all means? After all, they seem to be so knowledgeable about all things wrong with FFC, surely this would be a doddle?

Sarcastica font removed, if I want to read about how hopeless a case FFC is with its current coach/CEO/Board/bootstudder I just need to read the mainstream medja.

Once upon a time this site used to be a haven from such biased crap but now it’s a place to get trolled should you seek to defend the club. What a sad state of affairs.
