The following is taken from the AFL website:
"Lobbing at the Dockers?
Now that Greater Western Sydney ruckman Rory Lobb has met with both West Coast and Fremantle, he is closing in on announcing a club of choice for 2019 and beyond.

AFL.com.au understands the contracted Lobb is leaning towards selecting Fremantle to play in tandem with youngster Sean Darcy in the Dockers' ruck division.

While the Dockers are also working towards a deal to bring Melbourne forward Jesse Hogan home, it is believed they can fit both Lobb and Hogan into their salary cap.

Currently holding pick five in the draft, the Dockers could also receive Brisbane's pick four should a deal for Neale be agreed upon."

Hopefully we insist on more than just pick 4!!
However getting Hogan and Lobb, with Conca already in the clan, will be a good trade period for the Dockers if all this happens.

Jason the fact is
Old Mother Lyon,
Went to the cupboard,
To give the poor team a full forward gun,
When he came there,
The cupboard was bare,
And so the poor team had none.

Ok Tragic, I'll bite. Who has he got a personality clash with? Can't be Fyfe or he wouldn't have bothered going to GF with him and surely as he is in leadership group he wouldn't be below anyone else, apart from coaching staff?

I don't know why he's going unless it's hoping to get captaincy and I did hear it'll be good for his partners business, whatever that is. If it's just for money, why wouldn't he have put feelers out to other clubs as I'm sure some of the others would have been interested and been more a chance at success. So for mine there must be some other reason to choose Brissie. Just curious

rogerrocks,

if you read my original response, and I know you have because you commented on it, then you'll see that I don't view any of those players as 'elite'. 'Elite' puts them in the top 5% of the AFL. We would have 1 'elite' player in Fyfe. We would have some very good players in Neale and Mundy. Most teams have 1 or 2 'elite' players, sometimes 3.

To be classed as 'elite' you need to be one the AFL's top performers ie Ablett, Dangerfield, Martin Players of that calibre are rare.

Given that, the claim we have half a dozen 'elite' players doesn't hold up to scrutiny because if we had that many 'elite' players we'd be winning every week. Saying a bloke is playing well, doesn't make them elite. It was an overreach to try and talk the coach up but it doesn't fly.

To answer your question directly the comment about underperforming was aimed at the overreach because we don't really have that many 'elite' players.

edit: I'll add to that with an article listing the AFL's elite players based on champion data which would be overly generous looking at some of the names classed as elite.

Is the season that far gone already that some on here can't even remember some of our 1st tier players playing worse than WAFL reserves?

If that's elite, we need a new dictionary.

So during the 2012-2015 era, Roly took a team without any elite players to the GF and a couple of PF. I reckon he's a genius. Now we can only hope moving forward, that Cerra and Brayshaw plus Fyfe and Hogan etc, become elite players and by 2020 we're primed for a premiership. Brilliant. If Daniel Rich and Jack Sinclair are elite then that's laughable. That list you put up Yeti needs to be looked at closely. Fair Dinkum.

Whilst I don’t believe Freo has many elite players, going by Champion Data slotting Jack Watts in as ‘above average’ - the category below elite - rather suggests that Freo may well have more elite players than we think...

Hi Yeti (and Teasea),
All i said was "Personality clash with team mate(s)" was a reason a player may look to change clubs. What else I have heard is just rumour and I am not going to give it credibility by repeating it.

I was away and didn’t see all the game.

flag_2005,

I tend to think they overrate some players but I'm not sure how they get there. I mean they classed Whatalottahooey as elite. I suspect they might be a little generous in their classification.

Elite is very much an overused word

Jezza - 2013 GF team included:

Pavlich
McPharlin
Walters
Fyfe
Sandilands
Hill
Johnson

This is why no one takes anything you say seriously.

That list of ÉLITE players from Champion Data is a bit of a joke and with Lachie Neale not on the list and some ordinary performers amongst them renders the list generally irrelevant in todays competition.

Hami...it is so obvious. It is either that the pies are not that good...OR that we are much better than we think. You get to choose the correct one for your needs. That's fair enough ay?

Just noticed now that Marcus Adams now wants to go to Brissie over Collingwood. What's going on up there? BTW didn't he play at Swan Districts, as also 25, possibly played alongside LN for a bit when he first came over. Also McCarthy of Geelong, another mate of LN heading up there. Is it the Luke Hodge factor?
