Yeti, I don't like what comes out of Dooker Central. I've been critical in the past - and still am - of the Steves and the board. I've been disappointed in the form of various players.

Maybe "bulling" isn't the right word and I don't mean to convey that no one is ever allowed to disagree or complain. I suppose the turning point for me was Danyle Pearce, as mentioned by Morgan. To hear one of our players talk about the impact the constant negative comments have had on him made me very uneasy. For myself, I want to watch how I treat them in future. I have always said I don't like the club as it's currently run, but I love the team. I don't want to lose that. I still think of them as "our" boys and I think they deserve my support or I should go elsewhere.

So agree, disagree, mock, whatever. I don't mind. But for me, Danyle's words sit heavy and I can't help but take them on board.

Docked, I said at the time and I'll repeat myself, I cannot place much credence in somebody like Pearce, who had been in the AFL system for years, suddenly turning into a soft as tissue bloke because of harsh comments on social media.

The other side of that was the report that he'd spent most of the year with Peel and wanted to end the year trying to get them to a flag. I know what is the more believable.

Either way, any public figure attracts negative comments at some point. I'm not paid to be a public figure but I've copped plenty on here.

Of course that would be easier if Shane paid me a couple of hundred k per year but he can't even afford a boat, so no chance of that.

Footballers are public figures. They are rewarded handsomely for kicking footies about the place and criticism goes with the pay packet. If you don't want the criticism then you need to find employment where nobody cares what you do

I reckon its more than fair that fee paying members of a sporting club have their say and I have no problem with anyone critiquing the club, player performances or the coaches deficiencies - as a coach.
Ive critiqued Roly, The Fist, Sutcliffe, D Pearce on several occasions for poor tactics, lack of kicking prowess, physical weakness over the ball and poor disposal respectively.
I have tried to draw the line at personal criticism of the individual. We dont know them personally, we dont know if they are playinng injured, under mental duress or depression and most of them are involved with charity work and are courageous as hell.
Go the ball, not the Man was a mantra my Dad used to say and I respect my Dad.

Welcome Reece Conca, Freo could do with a mature body on the ball, help out our kids, give us some midfield depth and impart some Richmond knowledge, go in 100% and you will be amazed at the support you will get from Dockerland.
