Reality is that the only delistings I would question are deboer and Barlow, the rest were reasonable bloodletting’s with Mayne swapped for Brad Hill a good swap, Crowley got injured and retired very quickly, Clancy Pearce was never more than a c grader same for Suban.

Agreed, Noddy, I hope he does as well but I have to say it raises a concern with me that we are looking at grabbing players who have injury issues.

Its an area that the club does not have a sterling record of achievement. It fact, you could say we pretty much suck at it.

You would hope that this is one of those areas that Bell will be putting in some time on because its costing us big time. Better injury management and maybe we could expect to win more games than otherwise.

De Boer has had his injury problems the past few years. Only played 4 games his last season for us due to injury & form and has had a few hammy issues at GWS restricting him to 15 games for each of the past two seasons and missing 17 in total.

Prior to that he was Mr Reliable playing every game in 2012 & 2013.

However, his delisting lead to us gettting Luke Ryan and whilst I’d have probably kept him in place of say, Sutcliffe, it is what it is. If De Boer gets 2 more years out of his body, he’ll be doing well but Ryan should be running around for us for another 8-10 years.

Or would some people prefer we not have Ryan and still have De Boer? This isn’t a - ‘can I have my cake and eat it too?’ question - one or the other.

I would have kept de Boer, but the rest I understood. Barlow was too good to be playing in a forward pocket for us.

Conca is 2.5 years younger than Matty, and while they are probably comparable players right now, as a top 10 pick who has had a few injuries, there may be some upside left for Conca. Certainly if the aim is premiership contention around 20/21, there’s a good chance Conca is in the team.

We had too many similiar midfielders, not that quick run all day, reliable, ok skills, so we got rid of them all. Surprised we havent tried to draft anybody back and paid overs - maybe we are changing?!?

Why not bring Barlow back as a depth player for a season or two. Who would he be holding out and blocking the development of? Tom Sheridan? Mitch Crowden? Brady Grey? The list is full of blokes that aren't good enough yet still get a game half the time. Isn't that what Peel is for- to develop the talent?
I suspect he would play every game but the club would never admit the mistakes it has made. It doesn't understand that tomorrow never comes.The aim should be to be competitive every single week like the big boys are.
